Position Purpose:
To maintain and repair plant and equipment in compliance with legislation, codes of practice and standard operating procedures in order to optimise equipment availability and performance.
 
Position outputs:

4. To have a basis knowledge of Mechanical procedures to repair breakdowns in conjunction with Millwrights/Examiners.
5 Conduct post operation Electrical inspection on all Port Electrical equipment & keep records to prevent re occurrence of faults.
6. Faultfinding on a 24hr basis on PLC’s, AC+DC Electrical motors, Electrical +Hydraulic systems, compressors, dalmatics, scales, repairs to portable tools, Multicore, & Fibre Optic cables & all associated electrical equipment pertaining to P ort, to ensure efficient operations & minimize downtime.
7. To carry out inspections of D.B boards, testing of earth, leakages & plugs. Carry out repairs & inspections on portable electrical tools. Records & file equipment conditions & faults.

Position Purpose:
Programme is to develop a pipeline for key roles within various departments within Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) . This advert is specifically for the ICT department.

The Young Professional in Training is a structured 24-month training programme. The programme seeks to place Young Professional in specific areas within TPT according to their academic background, career aspirations and business requirements
 
Position outputs:
• Follow a structured training programme
• Undergo performance reviews and assessments every 6 (six) months
• Submit monthly reports
• Perform all duties as contained in his/her development programme, as well as which he/she may reasonably be required to perform by Transnet Port Terminals
 
Qualifications & Experience:
- National Diploma in Information Technology/ Computer Science or other relevant qualification
 
Competencies:
• Must have above average computer skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
• Must have good administration and organisation skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
• Ability to conduct research
• Ability to perform within an integrated team environment
• Good interpersonal skills
• Professional attitude and a willingness to learn
• Good time management
