Position Purpose
Provide electrician services to all cargo handling equipment by repairing, maintaining and improving its functionality to ensure that they are safe, reliable and available to operations to eliminate operations downtime.
 
Position Outputs
1. Examine, assess and conduct regular preventative maintenance on all cargo handling equipment to ensure its reliability and maintain a high level of availability.
2. Examine, evaluate, monitor and report equipment for abuse and functionality whilst in operations to detect and identify early warning signals of potential damage in order to rectify problem and change behaviour before a major breakdown.
3. Plan and prepare apprentices for on-the-job training in order to train and develop them according to their development plan thereby ensuring skills are adequately transferred.
4. Respond, establish and repair fault for breakdown in the quickest possible time to minimize operational downtime.
5. Assess and ascertain size of repair work and spares specifications required in order to inform and follow-up with Supervisor for ordering of parts to plan for repair in the shortest timeframe thereby making equipment available for operations.
6. Isolate fleet equipment when work is in progress in order to maintain a safe working environment.
7. In the absence of the supervisor, be able to make decisions as required on breakdowns or normal maintenance.
8. Keeping the condition of the equipment as good as possible to get maximum lifespan out of the equipment.
 
Qualifications and Experience
• Matric- NQF Level 4 or • NTC 3 Trade tested Auto Electrician • Valid driver's license • 3 to 5 years relevant working experience • Successfully completed Transnet apprenticeship program or Section 26 programme

Position Purpose
The Role is accountable to the Executive Manager: Security Governance, Risk, Compliance and Training. The position has a three pronged focus purpose:                   
(a) To provide a range of diverse administrative, research, compliance, policy development and information management tasks that assist Group Security to achieve its objective of providing an effective and balanced security governance and assurance; as well as security regulation and policy advice to Transnet;                   
(b) Is to promote ethical conduct and compliance with rules, regulations, policies and standards that govern how Transnet conduct its business. The incumbent must stay on top of the latest laws, regulations and trends within the security industry and should be able to translate these into requirements and procedures for Transnet;                                                 
(c) To coordinate across the Group security structures and assist in the identification, monitoring, and reporting of security risks throughout Transnet.
 
Position Outputs
"Security Governance (Policy and Standards) Research related activities: • provide support in undertaking research on specific topics and consult internal stakeholders to contribute to improving security regulation and policy application; • to research and prepare responses to concerns raised by the organization on security policy shortcomings and perceived excess regulation; • source, collate and analyse policy related information from the ODs/SUs; • undertake research and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of security policy outcomes.
Writing To write various Sub Functional briefs, reports, responses, consultation/meeting documents, papers and other documents as Required including an not limited to: • thematic literature review mini-reports; • specific security legislation compliance consolidated reports; • security culture awareness scripts; • minutes of consultation and meetings; • Sub Function correspondence to the business; • Review security regulatory universe and plan; • Policy awareness scripts.

Position Purpose
To maintain and repair plant and equipment in compliance with legislation, codes of practice & standard operating procedures in order to optimise equipment availability and performance
 
Position Outputs
1. Repair and maintain the Electrical and Mechanical systems of Port machines in a reliable, safe and cost effective manner thereby ensuring that the Terminal’s objectives are met with respect to safety, production service levels and cost control.
2. Fault find and resolve equipment breakdowns, during shift duties on a rotational basis, in an efficient and safe manner thereby reducing the impact of stoppages to Terminal operations ensuring that production targets are met and the service delivery to clients are maintained at high levels.
3. Assist the electrical personnel during fault finding, repairs and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure that all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
4. Facilitate the development of apprentices, colleagues and sub-ordinates through constant skills transfer and knowledge sharing thereby ensuring the continuous development of Terminal personnel.
5. Routinely check, examine and test mechanical systems to ensure optimal functioning of Terminal equipment in a reliable and safe condition.
6. Monitor compliance to relevant safety and environmental regulations and legislations and execute corrective action when required to ensure that the Terminal remains compliant to stipulated regulations and a safe work environment at all times.
7. Assist in the development of solutions with respect to repetitive failures and plant improvement projects thereby ensuring the continual positive development of the Terminal so that productivity targets are met and exceeded.
 
Qualifications and Experience
Must have an NQF 4 Qualification with: • Maths • Science • Engineering Drawing Must have a minimum NTC ii, Millwright Dual Trade Certificate. Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years plant maintenance experience.
