INTERNSHIP - EXPORT DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION UNIT
Business Unit: Export Development and Promotion Unit
Duration: 12 Months
Brief Outline of Duties:
Provide the much-required capacity in terms of trade intelligence, support with export development coordination and assist with market development initiatives to name but a few duties. The intern would be expected to provide general support to both the Export Development and Export Promotion sub-units and may also be involved with some of the strategic initiatives like the Export Competitiveness Enhancement Programme, The Transnet Enterprise Development Program and the KZN Export Information Portal for example.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (Among others)
1. Administration support to the KZN Export Information Portal.
2. Exposure and facilitation of Exhibition and Incentive.
3. Exposure to company visitation and reports.
4. Support the coordination of Export Development and awareness sessions.
5. Support and assist in the facilitation of the various international mentorship programs.
6. Exposure to enquiry management and referral.
7. Exposure to administrative processes including unit reports.
8. General filing and document control.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Educational and /or Technical Competencies:
• The incumbent should have a relevant and formal academic qualification (M+3) in either Administration, Commerce, Accountancy, Industrial Engineering or Business
• Computer literate (Microsoft packages)
• Completed formal academic studies or seeking practical industry exposure to ensure completion of formal qualifications.
• Preference would be given to incumbents who have qualification focusing on trade or investment promotion.
• The period for this internship/ experiential training is for a period of 12 months.
• A quarterly evaluation will be conducted to gauge and to ensure skills transfer is taking place and to monitor the performance of the intern.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
• Sound knowledge of micro and macro-economic factors.
• Understand research methodology.
• Knowledge on small business development.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Computer literacy at an intermediate level.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
• Ability to aspire to a culture of service excellence.
• Good telephone etiquette.
• Proficient with filing and data capturing.
• Ability to work independently.
