5 X LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
2 x Western Region (Grabouw and Villiersdorp)
3 x Eastern Region (Caledon; Botriver; Greyton; Genadendal and Riviersonderend)
Salary: Post level T07 – Between R165 960.00 p.a. and R215 364.00 p.a.
The most eligible candidate must be in possession of a Grade 12 Certificate with at least two (2) years Law Enforcement experience in the Local Government sector. A valid Code EC1 driver’s license. A valid Training Certificate issued by a person registered in terms of the South African Qualifications Authority Act, Act 58/1995 read with the Skills Development Act, Act 97/1998 and who is accredited with POSLEC SETA as a service provider to provide training in the safe use and handling of firearms. No Criminal Record (Important – A valid SAPS Clearance Certificate or proof of application of clearance certificate must accompany your application – Applicants must provide a valid police clearance certificate not older than 6 months on the day of the interview – applicants who do not provide the valid clearance certificate on the day of the interview will automatically be disqualified.) Effective communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages in the Western Cape, namely English, Afrikaans and Xhosa.
Responsibilities : Co-ordinate specific activities associated with public safety matters * monitor the Municipal Area and act on situations / behaviour which are non-compliant with legislation * enforce all municipal by-laws, * regular patrols to prevent land invasion by executing counter spoliation * provide protection to appointed contractors in removing illegal land invaders * impoundment of stray/problem animals * do animal pound duties as and when required * do control room duties as and when required * investigate complaints re. non-compliance to municipal by-laws * complete specific reports, statutory documentation and registers * patrolling and observing streets and identify non-compliance practices * ensure that inconvenience and/or risks to safety are minimized * provide emergency support function during disasters or emergency situations * promote a safe work environment * be willing to work shifts and overtime as and when required * other duties as requested from time to time.
