The Innovation Hub Management Company SOC Ltd (“TIHMC”) was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Economic Development through its Agency: Gauteng Growth and Development Agency SOC Ltd (GGDA). The main purpose of TIHMC is to develop and manage The Innovation Hub Science & Technology Park and to promote the economic development and competitiveness of Gauteng.
CALL FOR MAXUM DIGITAL PROGRAMME MENTORS
The Innovation Management Company’s (TIHMC) Smart Industries Unit’s Maxum Business Incubator is looking to recruit technical and business experts with the relevant skills and adequate experience to mentor entrepreneurs currently incubated within the Maxum Digital Programme (Maxum).
The Maxum offers business and technical support to start-ups in the Creative Industries with a niche focus on Gaming, Animation, Virtual Reality “VR” and Augmented Reality “AR”. With the aim of assisting entrepreneurs to fully develop and commercialize their inventions in the Creative Industries.
Technical and business advisory and mentorship is a key part of how the Maxum programme achieves its mandate. This is conducted through face-to-face meetings where technical/business experts and entrepreneurs are matched to accelerate invention development, commercialisation and the bankability of business concepts.

Mentors with technical and/or business expertise in Gaming/ Animation/ VR/ AR with either of these expertise -Production/ Project Management -Co-production -Art Direction for licensing and merchandizing -Business Strategy -Pitching -Game/ Level Designer -Concept/ Character Artists -Game Programmer -Game Animator -Marketing -Finance -Legal and Enterprise Development in the Creative Industries fields are called to apply. Experience/ knowledge of working with start-up companies, intellectual property issues, Creative Industries development, commercializing new inventions and contact with a wide network of Creative Industries related stakeholders are added advantages.
Selected experts will be expected to undertake the following main duties: Review, assess and evaluate Digital Creative Industries technologies, projects and proposals on behalf of the Maxum Digital Programme • Serve as technical and/or business mentors to the Maxum Digital Programme • To assist in IP and Legal Advice • Assist in Marketing, Sales and Branding • Drafting of Financial Modelling and Financial Statements including Tax Compliance • Mentor and advise incubated SMEs on behalf of the Maxum Digital Programme • Keep the Maxum Digital Programme team abreast of cutting edge local and international research in their fields • Participate in Maxum Digital Programme’s organised pitching sessions and events; and • Assist in facilitating training sessions in their relevant specialised skillsets.

Accepted applicants will be paid an honorarium rate decided upon by TIHMC and will be contracted over a period of 24 months (2 years).
