Job Purpose
To deliver a strategy aligned portfolio of successful technology innovation projects with plans to move from one TRL level to the next towards full commercialisation.
Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) is a talent driven, customer- centric and impact focused organisation. Minimum Requirements       
Qualification:
  • Bachelors or Post graduate Degree in Engineering (Electronics), Computer Science, ICT or other related qualification
  • Ideal: MBA or related post graduate business management qualification
 
Experience:
  • 3 years technology Innovation (R & D/Product development) experience
  • 2 years commercial and project management experience within technology innovation environment
  • Previous exposure in managing a business or SMME would be an added advantage.
  • Proven track record in originating, structuring transactions including restructuring and undertaking valuations
  • Knowledge of Technology innovation development trends in relevant industries,
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities   
Financial management and revenue growth
  • Assist the head to develop divisional budgets and forecasts for EXCO and Board approval.
  • Monitor and track performance against budget (operations and projects)
  • Manage and monitor the timeous disbursement of funding to ensure optimal operation of technology and innovation projects 
  • Identify new funding opportunities and raise additional income from third party investors 
  • Manage repayment obligations that projects has to TIA (Equity and royalties, investments and loans)
 
Stakeholder management
  • Provide input into the formulation of a Stakeholder relationship strategy specific to the STA 
  • In collaboration with SSRC, credible success stories are published. 
  • Build an effective eco system around the portfolio including key stakeholder relations 
  • Participate in events, meetings, workshops and conferences by giving input, avail skill, competency and expertise. Participation should result positive input, impact and giving direction in the NSI 
 
Governance, compliance and internal processes
  • Adherence to all relevant policies and frameworks is maintained
  • Compliance to all TIA systems (fund management, performance management, HR, finance, Stakeholder information, etc.) is maintained
  • All portfolio audit matters are resolved
  • Agreed turnaround times on key business processes are achieved
  • Project information is accurately and completely recorded on the fund management system.
  • Ensure timeous and accurate reporting as per requirements
  • Assist applicants with building a fundable opportunity and assess Investment opportunities
  • Provides support and assistance to projects to achieve milestones
  • Pro-active identification of project risks and portfolio opportunities, together with project teams
  • Perform technical due diligence of TIA projects and programs
  • All aspects of the project life cycle from sourcing to exit are efficiently managed
  • Facilitate Commercialisation of TIA projects/investments 
  • Build a pipeline of investment opportunities for the strategic technology areas 
  • Perform client-centric and value adding project management of TIA projects/investments
