DEPUTY DIRECTOR: CIVIL ENGINEERING
(WATER & WASTEWATER AND SANITATION)
DEPARTMENT: Civil Engineering Services
POST LEVEL: 02
SALARY SCALE: R584 799 p.a.

Requirements: Relevant '6-Degree in Civil Engineering / Environmental and Water Science / Water Quality Engineering OR relevant equivalent qualification (NQE Level 7). Registration with a Professional Body (ECSA) is a requirement. Eight (8) years' relevant experience in the technical water environment division, of which three (3) years' experience should be in a middle management capacity. Extensive knowledge as well as experience in Water Engineering and project management. Valid Code B driver's licence. Computer literate (Ms Office).
Key performance areas: Manage and supervise the activities of the personnel in the Water and Wastewater and Sanitation division. Monitor the execution of Capital Projects. Oversee the scope of works for consultants and external contractors. Must be able to implement, develop and execute business plans. Recommend key inputs and solutions to projects. Construct financial proposals and reports in order to achieve growth targets. Manage the Operational and Capital budgets for the section. Oversee and prepare specifications for quotations and tenders according to the Supply Chain processes and procedures. Preparation of reports. Overseeing Planning, design and implementation of Projects. Oversee and monitor Blue drop and Green drop criteria and requirements. Oversee the implementation of Infrastructure asset management plan. Ensure the optimum technical and / or physical condition of equipment at all the treatment works. Prepare relevant monthly and quarterly reports on projects, for green and blue drop requirements etc. Supervision of departmental personnel, Monitor water quality in line with accredited standards.

DIRECTORATE: TOWN PLANNING AND HUMAN SETTLEMENTS
BUILDING AND DRAINAGE INSPECTOR
DEPARTMENT: Town Planning and Human Settlements POST LEVEL: 08
SALARY SCALE: R307 398 / R323 022 / R339 471 p.a.
BENEFITS OFFERED: Contribution to Medical Aid, Pension Fund and Housing allowance Plus Travel Allowance of 550 km/pm
Requirements: Grade 12 plus National Diploma in Building Science, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification (NOF 6). A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience. Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of National Building Regulations and Standard, Proven knowledge of Building and Drainage Inspections. A Valid Code B driver's Licence. Computer literacy. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Key performance areas: Responsible for controlling and regulation of illegal buildings and structures, Conducting of building and drainage inspections, Issuing of occupancy certificates, Monitoring compliance with building standards in terms of the National Building Regulations and SABS Codes of Practice. Perform other related additional tasks.
