STATE DIAMOND TRADER AND THE VACANCY ADVERT
The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Amendment Act, 29 of 2005. It is classified as a Schedule 3b entity of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). We invite self-motivated and suitably qualified individuals who wish to stand out in their field to apply for the Chief Executive Officer position should they meet the below listed job purpose, minimum requirements, competencies, and key accountabilities
JOB PURPOSE
The CEO has a primary responsibility of managing the operations and resources of the State Diamond Trader as well as its overall health. The CEO’s position reports to the Board which in turn reports to the Minister of Mineral Resources
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Postgraduate qualification in commerce, mining, or law. Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Public Administration, or any similar NQF Level 9 qualification will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years working experience at executive management level
• High level knowledge of the diamond industry
• High level knowledge of Diamond Legislation, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, State Owned Entities Governance Policies and Prescripts

- Develop successful business strategies for the State Diamond Trader which will ensure the implementation of its mandate
- Ensure that approved business strategies are communicated with all stakeholders for implementation
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Business Finance

- Ensure that State Diamond Trader as a business is financially viable
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Business Operations
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Oversee all strategic operations and business activities to ensure achievement of overall strategies
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Business Mandate
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Ensure that the business mandate is implemented as per the Diamond Act no. 56 of 1986
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Reporting

- Review financial and non-financial information and report to the Board
- Ensure that State Diamond Trader reports accurately to the shareholder, South African Parliament, and National Treasury
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Rough Diamond Industry
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- As a State Diamond Trader Chief Executive Officer, ensure to liaise and maintain good business relations with all domestic and international diamond industry strategic structures Maintain a thorough knowledge of international and domestic diamond manufacturing and trading pipeline
- Keep updated with periodical diamond markets trading trends
- Grow the South African diamond industry market for beneficiation strategies
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Team Leadership
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Develop the State Diamond Trader structure and allocate adequate resources linked to the implementation of the business strategy
- Lead, develop and maintain a high performing Executive Management team
