Job Advert Summary
The Head of Procurement will be responsible for procurement- governance, legislation and compliance management duties, while working in close contact with the Procurement team and internal Stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A tertiary 3-year Diploma/ Degree (Commerce/ Supply Chain/ Business) or related procurement qualification.
- Related Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
- MCIPS certification an added advantage.
Minimum Experience:
- At least a minimum of 8-10 years’ proven working experience in supervising/managing others within procurement or supply chain management.
- Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
- Strong Commercial acumen, exceptional eye for details, including experience in leading negotiations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Alignment
- Contribute towards the development of company’s strategic plans.
- Compile and present departmental strategy for Exco review and input into broader organisational strategy.
- Ensures that financial transactions, policies and procedures meet short- and long-term business objectives and regulatory body requirements.
- Identification of departmental risks and implementing departmental risk management strategy.
2. Operational
- Monitor all procurement activities.
- Market analysis plus total supplier base management.
- Report to the executive management team.
- Procurement department internal and external reporting on KPIs
- Ensure sourcing decisions are made in accordance with approved strategies.
- Ensure Supplier bidding / selection in accordance with the Procurement Policies and Procedures and enforce implementation.
- Ensure early Supplier involvement in cost management initiatives to ensure achievement of associated targets.
- Developing and implement procurement strategies and methodologies.
- Manage and structure the company’s relationship with the supply base.
- Perform and monitor Supplier evaluation.
- Enforce and regulate transactional processes in accordance with both Policies and Procedures.
- Interaction with Sasria’s procurement function
- Interaction with Business departments on critical procurement matters to ensure improved procurement efficiencies.
3. Policy and Governance
- Review and implement Procurement-related policies. This includes Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) policies.
- Ensure that all governance structures both within the department and at corporate level are operational.
- Ensure business is kept abreast with Procurement practices.
- Manage procurement-related risks.
4. Sustainable Development
- Develop and implement Enterprise & Supplier Development strategies and initiatives.
- Promote transformation through procurement best practices and policies e.g. B-BBEE and PPPFA.
- Review and support local content strategies.
5. Budgeting and financial responsibilities
- Execute the Budgeting and Forecasting process for Sasria.
- Manage the departmental budget, ensuring expenditure within set parameters.
- Prepare reports for Board and Board Committee Packs Contribute towards the business Strategic Planning.
6. People Management
- Ensure that annual performance objectives are set and understood by team members.
- Development areas identified and career development plans in place for team members.
- Manage team performance, ensuring that non-performance is dealt with accordingly and to achieve individual and organization goals and objectives.
- Developing a skilled team capable of assisting Sasria with the achievement of its objectives.
- Identify resourcing needs and participate in the recruitment of staff.
- Ensure that all staff are trained, skilled and that their expertise is fully applied.
- Ensure that working environment contributes improving staff morale and increased productivity.
