Job Purpose
As a Lead Benefit Realisation Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing internal investment opportunities within the organization. You will work closely with various departments to develop and implement strategies that optimize our internal capital investments and drive business growth.
You will be required to provide expertise and advice, facilitate the formulation, review, and monitoring of the Enterprise Resource Plan. Disburse funds by managing the Benefit Realisation Management Framework. Monitor and review projects and assess whether the organisation has met its capital investment goals.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Honours / Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Financial Management or similar AND minimum 10-12 years' experience in Benefit realization, Project management and Finance with 3-4 years at a specialist level.

- Lead the provision of a benefits management, tracking and realisation service to enable the delivery of programs and projects.
- Assess benefits management across Enterprise Portfolio Management Office delivery portfolio of programs and projects to identify current gaps, overlaps and conflicts.
- Work with programmes and projects and provide pragmatic best practice advice on the effectiveness of their benefits management and realisation practices, particularly to identify additional opportunities for benefits management.
- Review investment proposal submissions and the development of business cases during options analysis, investment appraisal and portfolio delivery prioritisation in terms of return on investment.
- Track and report benefits realisation progress for Enterprise Portfolio Management Office dashboard reporting.
- Regularly review and improve the effectiveness of benefits and value management arrangements and escalate any portfolio-level delivery risks with benefits realisation as appropriate.
- Establish the mechanisms for, and monitor, post project closure to compare benefits realised with benefits forecast to capture lessons in relation to benefits management for wider dissemination.

Job Purpose

Job Outputs:
Process
- Utilise digital information, systems and tools as they become available to address audit risks. This may include eCommerce transactions and other digital risks.
- Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
- Analyse data/evidence, review and confirm identified risks and consideration of additional risks which may relate to the entity being audited, across tax types, across related entities etc.
- Analyse information provided at dispute stage and taxpayer complaints logged.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.

- Engagement during and after the audit with Debt Management aimed at optimal collection on liabilities raised through the audit. Provide support by conducting a financial analysis to support the recommendations which may be used to determine the optimal collection of liabilities and/or to support the view at various committees e.g. Debt Committee. Engage the taxpayer regarding the collection of debt at the finalisation stage of the audit.
- Engagement with Litigation and Dispute management during and post the audit process to address issues relating to the interpretation of relevant legislation e.g. tax, legislation relating to companies, etc. The auditor may be required to testify in a civil court.
- Execute process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
- Identify and escalate serious tax offences for potential criminal investigations, which will include a detailed analysis of the facts together with the applicable tax legislation. The Auditor may be required to testify in a criminal court.
- Identify information required to mitigate audit risks identified and engage taxpayers/tax practitioners for additional relevant information and clarification.
- Identify new and additional risks for audit scope expansion, identification of new risks relating to other tax types and related entities for referral to Case Selection for profiling for new audit interventions.
- Manager the efficient progress of the audit utilising approved systems. Prepare systems notes of progress and outcomes as required and maintain during the audit process, e.g. Service Manager, Teammate.
- Navigate and extract relevant information from SARS systems and external sources to collect and evaluate risks and compliance to relevant legislation.
- Prepare and issue relevant communication/ reports as required to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare inputs based on analysis and interpretation of facts and legislation, participate and present to relevant committee, i.e. Technical Committee, Understatement Committee, Large Assessment Committee, Objections Committee, National Appeals Committee.
- Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process, product and risk optimisation.
- Raise accurate assessments on SARS system in relation to relevant legislation.

Job Purpose
To execute the development of Data Analytics solutions through understanding of business requirements and to be responsible for basic data processing within the organisation, including fulfilling the functions of data cleaning and analyses, reporting and data file set up and testing.

About the Position
The of role of Team Member: Estates Debt Management is part of SARS’s broader Debt Management function, specifically focusing on estates, liquidations, and distributions. It’s a specialised position dealing with tax liabilities that arise from deceased estates, insolvency processes, and similar matters.
SARS is looking for an energetic, results orientated, self-driven individual for the role of Team Member: Estates Debt Management with a high level of integrity, trust and discretion to follow up on and collect all revenue due within the Estate space. The successful candidate will need to take responsibility for the planning of their time and work, executing the work in the Estate Debt Management space to meet set targets and goals.
Job Purpose
To effectively process allocated estate debt management cases within specific turnaround time and in line with relevant policies and procedures.
