NETWORK ENGINEER (VOICE NETWORK ENGINEER) - FIXED TERM CONTRACT

About the Position

SARS is looking for a Technical Support person that will be providing IP Telephony support to the Contact Centres. This candidate needs to have basic WAN/LAN experience in troubleshooting problems within the network. The ideal Candidate should have a very good understanding of Voice, Video and Data communications.

 

Job Purpose

To provide the technical skills to support the optimal management and operation of all Data and Voice communication related infrastructure in the production environment as well as providing infrastructure-facing support processes to facilitate delivery of ICT Services through a Service Management System for managing of tickets for IT service requests and IT service outages as recorded or logged via all service channels.

 

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Relevant National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) AND 2-3 years' experience in IT Production Telephony Environment, of which 1-2 years is at knowledge worker level

OR

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND Relevant IT Qualification (s) / Certification (s), AND additional requirements specified in Min Functional requirements, where applicable.

ALTERNATIVE #

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 5 years IT Production Telephony Environment experience, of which 1-2 years is at knowledge worker level.

 

Minimum Functional Requirement

Need to be familiar with:

  • 2-3 years’ practical experience in IT Production Telephony Environment, with 1-2 years IP routing and switching experience.
  • Proficient in the following technologies: Technical Knowledge of Routers, Wi-Fi Access Points, Switches; LAN Cabling, Voice Gateways, Protocols, Network Management Systems and SIP Technology.

SARS is calling for applications from professionals who wish to serve on its ARC for the term 2026 to 2029, which is subject to renewal at the discretion of the Accounting Authority.

SARS is established in terms of the South African Revenue Service Act, 1997 (Act 34 of 1997) and is a Schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act 1 of 1999) (as amended).

The ARC is a statutory committee, and candidates are expected to have an advanced understanding of the fiduciary duties as outlined in the Public Finance Management Act, the Companies Act, 2008 (Act 71 of 2008) and the Regulations thereof. SARS supports the King V Code on Corporate Governance and, as such, candidates must be familiar with the responsibilities and obligations as outlined therein.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

SARS is seeking suitably qualified professionals with a high degree of integrity, ethical leadership, executive leadership competence, and good interpersonal and communication skills who hold postgraduate qualifications in either Chartered Accountancy (SA), Audit (internal and external), Technology and Information Governance, Law and Risk Management and who possess:

  • Five years’ experience serving on boards and/or audit committees; and/or
  • Five years’ experience practicing in the relevant area of qualification/expertise.
  • IoDSA Certification will be an added advantage

Experience in tax law administration will be an added advantage. The appointed members shall receive remuneration in accordance with the rates determined by the Minister of Finance.

About the Position

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly specialised forward thinking, self-motivated and dynamic IT specialist with a passion for data. The incumbent will function on strategic level with regards to extraction, transformation and loading of data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse. The extraction of information from the various lines of business systems into a normalized warehouse will be a key responsibility and challenge. Data scrubbing and cleansing ability to keep track of the dynamic changes in the SARS business environment will be crucial as well as third party data sources. Automating the ETL process through scheduling and exception-handling routines.

About the Position

As an Investigator, you will independently manage the full process of medium complexity criminal investigations involving multiple tax products and offences over several years. Your responsibilities include gathering and analysing information, drafting high-quality affidavits and reports, and applying relevant legislation and procedures throughout the investigation. You will register cases with SAPS, maintain regular engagement on case progress, and ensure all evidence and documentation are managed according to legal standards. The role also involves addressing NPA queries, supporting prosecutors, and ensuring that all investigative actions uphold constitutional rights and compliance requirements, with the goal of successful prosecution.

 

Job Purpose 

To conduct criminal investigations, independently, into tax and customs offences.

 

Education and Experience

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

National Diploma in Law, Criminal or Forensic Investigations, Forensic Auditing, Taxation and 2-3 years’ experience in Forensic investigations environment, of which 1-2 years ideally at knowledge worker level.
