About the Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Litigation Unit of the South African Revenue Service for a Legal Support Administrators who will provide critical administrative and operational support across the full legal cost management and recovery lifecycle. This role is not court‑specific but supports litigation matters across the unit.
- The Legal Administrator will be primarily responsible for the day‑to‑day administration of bills of costs and cost recovery processes, ensuring that all cost orders granted in favour of SARS are properly recorded, actively progressed and collected. This includes supporting the end‑to‑end process from receipt of a cost order through to taxation and final recovery of monies due to SARS.
- A key function of the role is the preparation, drafting and administration of bills of costs. The incumbent will assist with compiling draft bills of costs, coordinating supporting documentation, liaising with internal case owners, attorneys, cost consultants and the State Attorney where applicable, and tracking the progress of taxation.
- The Legal Administrator will also monitor timelines, follow up on outstanding steps, record outcomes of taxation, and ensure that all recoverable amounts are accurately captured and updated on the relevant registers and systems.
- The role further includes performing all administrative tasks necessary to secure payment on cost orders, including opening and maintaining recovery files, recording cost orders on registers, issuing follow‑ups to opposing parties or their legal representatives, tracking payments received, escalating non‑payment, and maintaining evidence of recovery for audit purposes.
- In addition, the Legal Administrator will support the management and recording of legal cost applications, including capturing applications, amendments and top‑ups on internal systems, maintaining accurate registers, tracking approval status, and ensuring alignment between approved costs, invoices and recoveries.
- In relation to invoicing and payments, the Legal Administrator will receive, log and track legal invoices, check completeness of documentation, follow up on outstanding approvals, assist with resolving payment queries, and support monitoring of invoices from receipt through to payment in accordance with PFMA requirements and internal controls.
- The position further includes administrative responsibility for State Attorney claims, including the recording, tracking and reconciliation of such claims, and supporting the processing of reimbursements due to SARS.
- The Legal Administrator will be responsible for accurate data capturing, record‑keeping, filing and system maintenance, ensuring that all legal cost, invoice, recovery and taxation information is current, complete and audit‑ready. The role includes assisting with the compilation of management and audit reports, extracting data from registers and systems, and supporting responses to internal and Auditor‑General audits relating to legal costs and recoveries.
- The successful candidate must be highly organised, detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and comfortable working in a regulated environment requiring strict adherence to governance and financial controls. Through effective administration of bills of costs and cost recovery processes, the Legal Administrator will play a direct role in safeguarding SARS’ financial interests and supporting the overall litigation function.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Senior Specialist: SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BW/4HANA) with SAP BPC capability. The successful candidate must demonstrate sound judgement, strong technical competence, and proven business acumen, and will contribute to SARS’ higher purpose and service delivery mandate. The incumbent will be required to apply deep technical expertise across current and emerging technologies, with a strong future orientation. Key responsibilities include eliciting and translating business requirements; designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting SAP BW/4HANA and SAP BPC solutions in accordance with approved specifications and business requirements; and contributing to the future roadmap, including potential enablement of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Planning. The incumbent is expected to add value through proactive, effective day-to-day operational support and continuous improvement. The role further requires a broad understanding of Information Technology, including the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), an understanding of SAP systems as source systems, and in-depth knowledge of database principles, data modelling, and data architecture.
Job Purpose
To support clients with expert requirement analysis, development and configuration, implementation, and support of SAP BW4HANA with BPC (planning) solutions for various business scenarios. This role uses consulting skills, business knowledge, and SAP solution experience to effectively integrate SAP technology into the client’s business environment in order to achieve client expected business results. Proven SAP BPC implementation, development and support is a critical requirement for this role.
Technical Requirements
BW4HANA
- Solid SAP BW4HANA experience (Implementation and Support).
- At least 3 full implementations or upgrades of SAP BW (7.4, BW on HANA) or BW4HANA systems.
- Design and implement L1–L3 data models in BW/4HANA (Advanced DSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, Open Hubs). Build ETL processes using transformations (ABAP), DTPs, and process chains. SAP and Non-SAP Sources and Targets.
- Must be Proficient in report development SAP Business Objects A4O -Analysis for Office (SAP SAC Experience Advantageous).
- Integrate SAP BW/4HANA and/or SAP Datasphere with SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics and CDS Views.
- Analyse and model data across key business domains including Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Revenue Management, and HR / FI Planning.
BPC
- Solid SAP BPC experience (Implementation, configuration and Support).
- At least 2 to 3 full implementations or upgrades of SAP BPC systems.
- Design and develop BPC applications (Standard and/or Embedded model).
- Configure: Dimensions (Account, Entity, Time, Category).
- Business Rules (HR Planning & Allocations, Account/Cost centre calculations, Validation)
- Develop logic scripts and BAdIs for custom calculations and business rules.
- EPM - Manage data manager packages and data loading processes.
- Support end to end planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly business processes.
- Integrate BPC with BW4HANA InfoProviders and external data read write sources.
- SAP SAC Planning knowledge and implementation is an advantage.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND a minimum 8 years’ experience and knowledge of SAP Basis. Fields of study: Information Tech, Computer Science, B‐Com, Finance, Management and Engineering.

Perform complex tasks and guidance during implementation, maintenance, and support of SAP BW4HANA with SAP BPC to enhance business functionality and overall performance, while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Close communication with business units/functional teams /designers, understand the requirements from provided functional designs and transform these requirements into the technical designs and outputs.
- Perform in-depth analysis of the current business processes and scenarios of the business then recommend or configure solutions to meet requirements.

About the Position
SARS is looking for dynamic, energetic results oriented, self-directed person, to join the collection of outstanding debt & returns and management of the debt book allocated to them to protect the economy of South Africa. The candidates must have knowledge of the SARS systems, good communication skills, both verbal and written, goal and target driven. Integrity is key to the organisation.
Job Purpose
To effectively apply basic knowledge of understanding of debt collection processes on outstanding debt and returns for the CIT, PIT, PAYE, and VAT tax types, through face-to-face, virtual, and digital platforms, in line with the relevant South African Tax Laws and SARS policies and procedures within specific turnaround times to deliver on the SARS strategic objectives, thereby ensuring enhanced service delivery and compliance, with full guidance.
