SYSTEMS SPECIALIST: IT DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

All Inclusive Salary Package: R641 916 – R743 078 Per Annum

Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity that operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA seeks to appoint a Systems Specialist: IT Database Administrator. The successful candidate will ensure the management and maintenance of data within SAQA databases and perform such other duties as may be required by the Manager: Information and Communication and Technology (ICT).
 
Requirements are:
  • The most eligible candidate must hold an appropriate recognised qualification at NQF Level 6 on the 10 Level NQF, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in SQL and Oracle database administration, 2 years’ experience in Azure SQL and 3 years of Applications support is required.
  • An NQF Level 7 qualification on the 10-Level NQF with more than 5 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) would be advantageous.
  • The incumbent must have a good knowledge of IT laws and regulations, information systems and technology principles, digitisation and trends in IT, IT architecture, Azure DevOps and Java programming, IT security, data management, and system design.
  • Problem-solving, project management, and building alliances should be the skills of those aspiring for this appointment.
 
Key performance areas:
  • Plan, create, and implement database systems.
  • Enhance database systems.
  • Ensure and monitor performance, integrity, and security of databases.
  • Ensure database and application capacity planning.
  • Develop and maintain programmes in Oracle, SQL, and Azure SQL platforms.
  • Manage software as a service, infrastructure/servers, and/or platform as a service.
  • Provide ad hoc user support and training to enhance information systems applications and databases.
  • Resolve user’s problems associated with the usage of information systems applications and databases.

SENIOR SPECIALIST: SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (3 YEAR FIXED-TERM CONTRACT)

Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity that operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA seeks to appoint a Senior Specialist: Software Developer. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating cutting-edge software that supports critical business processes. Applicants are required to attach their CV and application letter when applying for this vacancy. SAQA will verify credit and criminal records as well as qualifications (A SAQA evaluation certificate will be required for all foreign qualifications).
 
Requirements are:
  • The most eligible candidate must hold an appropriate recognised qualification at NQF Level 7 on the 10 Level NQF with 3 years’ experience in IT systems and application, or an NQF Level 6 with 10 years or more experience in traceable software development projects.
  • An NQF Level 8 qualification on the 10-Level NQF would be advantageous.
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure development stack, Web application development and industry 4.0, covering all popular programming languages such as C#, Python, PHP, HTML and Java is a further requirement.
  • An NQF Level 7 with more than 3 years’ experience in IT systems and application development or experience of the implementation of SDLC will be advantageous.
  • The incumbent must have good knowledge of IT laws and regulations, Relational Databases, Data Management principles and methods, Automation and Programming concepts and application development.
  • Project management, programming and process re-engineering should be the skills of those aspiring for this appointment.
 
Key performance areas:
  • Develop cutting-edge software using the latest development tools and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Test Analysts in developing, testing, and deploying systems components.
  • Research and develop new technologies.
  • Periodically review IT business processes to ensure their suitability.
  • Manage the master data, including creation, updates and deletion.
  • Document existing business and IT systems functionalities and capabilities.
  • Improve business and IT systems by designing and modification of business and IT systems.
  • Determine business requirements and translate these into technical specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies prior to the development or acquisition of new applications systems and/or amendments to existing applications.
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases.
  • Co-ordinate, test, maintain and monitor system implementation.
