Job Title
HEAD: BANC ASSURANCE (L4)
(Position based in NPC, Pretoria)
 
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer

 
Summation
Drive long-term and short-term insurance business across Postbank working with all stakeholders to plan, manage, lead and direct the business focus on the distribution of insurance products to achieve business, revenue and profit targets whilst implementing global standards

Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
• Develop & execute an overall business plan covering all insurance activities across all channels based on business targets in alignment with Insurance Partners and global strategy
• Provide strategic business and operational direction for Bancassurance
 
Financial and Performance Management
• Active management of overall Insurance P&L to deliver customer, business, revenue and profit targets for the business by driving insurance products activities across all channels
• Monthly reporting of insurance financials including, but not limited to, commission reconciliation, financial projections, P&L monitoring, marketing allowance activities, etc
• Increase in penetration of Insurance products across client segments
Product Development and Operational workflow
• Identify insurance product needs for all customer segments with all channels, product managers and segment managers together and develop appropriate product and service propositions / offerings with Insurance Partner/s
• Manage relationship with existing and potential bank partners
• Develop business plans, marketing strategy, process workflow and campaigns with bank partners
• Develop an efficient Bancassurance operations support
• Monitor and manage performance of bank and own Bancassurance team
 
Monitor operational activities to ensure that they are compliant with
• Local regulations, policies and procedures
• SCB Country level and Group policies and procedures
 
Marketing and Brand Management
• Initiate, execute and manage marketing programmes and retention strategies in line with business objectives
• Ensure brand compliance for all above and below-the-line communication according to local / global standards for SCB and relevant Insurance Partner
• Prepare and manage annual budgets for the department
 
Compliance & Control
• Ensure a robust risk management and compliance model for the insurance business across client segments according to local regulations and internal policies
• Ensure active monitoring and maintenance of risk management policies and controls / standards
• Ensure all insurance-related staff and activates are compliant with local and Group policies / standards / controls
• Responsible for any necessary reporting as required by local country insurance authorities and regulators. Group Insurance must be informed of all external communications to regulators
 
 
Minimum Requirements, Job requirements, Skills & Attributes
 
Minimum Requirements
 
Qualifications:
• BSc (Hon) in Actuarial Science NQF Level 8, BSc (Hon) Mathematics, completed CFA, or equivalent qualification in Finance, Statistics, Investment Management and Actuarial Science.
• A master degree in the field of Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Management, Investment Management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
• Candidates having experience in Insurance business especially in Banking Industry would be preferred
• Bancassurance leadership roles, with strong experience in sales and business management, as well as product development.
 
Knowledge and understanding of:
• Strong and demonstrable track record of successful implementation of product variants and innovative customer offerings
• Demonstrated ability in implementing business plans related to sales, distribution and service
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes
• Ability to implement change initiatives by taking ownership and working with all stakeholders
• Strong inter-personal skills and coordination ability, which encourages and promotes enthusiasm and team spirit.
• The ability to lead teams of people, flexing style when and where possible to be seen as a thought leader as well as producer
