Job Title: Chief Operations Officer (L3A)
(Position based in Head Office: Pretoria)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
 
Summation
Responsible for developing and implementing operational strategies in alignment with the overall organisational strategy to ensure operational efficiency and cost effectiveness through digitisation and straight through processing to support revenue and business growth.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
• Introduce best practices using local/ international benchmarks to identify areas of improvement.
• Implementation and maintenance of effective fraud controls and operational risk prevention practices are integrated within the daily management of the operations function.
• A key deliverable of the Chief Operations Officer is the development and implementation of a digitisation strategy to digitise all aspects of the operations and administration of Postbank.
• Ensure the delivery of reliable, quality and timely services to clients in a secure and controlled environment.
• Manage SLAs and other contractual agreements with internal and external stakeholders / customers/ suppliers to ensure optimal efficiency and synergies are achieved.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company specific policies, procedures and regulations.
• Responsible for the management of the PMO to ensure that projects are managed and executed successfully and timeously according best practise principles and guidelines.
• Ensure efficient management of company resources in accordance with the stipulations of PFMA, and other relevant laws.

Minimum Requirements
 
Qualifications:
• A relevant post graduate qualification (NQF 8), Masters Degree or MBA/MBL (NQF level 9), with commercial background.
 
Experience:
• Minimum 10 years post qualification relevant experience of which 5 years in a position of a similar nature. Experience within the banking/ financial services environment will be an added advantage.
 
Knowledge and understanding of:
• In depth knowledge of industry best practices
• Thorough understanding of banking practices and the associated risk management thereof
• Adequate retail banking knowledge
• Good understanding of Government related acts (PMFA, FICA, FAIS Act, etc.)
• Knowledge of the Postbank and Banks Act
• Sound working knowledge of business architecture principles
