Appointment Requirements
Applicants must:
·Have a National Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of NQF level 6) in Policing / Law Enforcement / Criminology / Intelligence or related fields of study - an applicable post graduate qualification in the above relevant fields, as well as relevant training and development may be an added advantage;
·Have a minimum of three years proven appropriate managerial experience in field of the post;
·Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;
·Have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ licence; and
·Will be required to undergo a security vetting process to the level of Top Secret and obtain a security clearance of Top Secret within six months after appointment (if not already in possession of such a valid security clearance).

Core Functions:
 Render an effective and efficient vetting field investigation service.
 Render an effective and efficient vetting evaluation service regarding all collated and gathered information obtained through field investigations.
 Render an effective and efficient polygraph examination service.
 Render an effective and efficient administrative service pertaining to vetting (registry, data capturing, criminal record checks, system checks and issuing of clearance certificates).
 Manage an effective and efficient line function and administration support service,
 Assist with the formulation, implementation and maintenance of national policies (including standards, procedures and guidelines) with regard to recruiting, vetting and training of personnel, including evaluation and monitoring of the effectiveness of the screening and vetting service as well as other matters which require national uniformity.
 Establish and maintain a management information database concerning resources, skills, training and other work related information.
 Ensure adequate capacity and resources for the rendering of an effective and efficient personnel security / vetting service.
 Ensure adequate skills levels pertaining to all personnel allocated within the defined area of responsibility.
 Ensure that the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) is adhered to within the environment.
 Manage and utilise all resources allocated to the immediate post environment in accordance with relevant directives and legislation.

 Candidates are expected to disclose if he / she is a respondent in an interim or final protection order in terms of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998 (Act No 116 of 1998) or Protection from Harassment Act, 2011 (Act No 17 of 2011), and may be disqualified from appointment to that post.
 The final selected candidate must disclose any financial interest, in the prescribed format, as provided for in the SAPS Employment Regulations, 2018, for newly appointed SMS candidates or proof of the electronic submission for the previous disclosure period.

 The successful candidate will have to conclude a contract of employment, enter into a performance agreement and disclose all financial interests in terms of the South African Police Service Employment Regulations, 2018, and the Public Service Regulations, 2016.

 Have ability to standardise, mainstream and implement Social Work Services programs and interventions within the organisation.
 Ability to engage and interact with stakeholders.

 Ensure and promote the widest possible mutual assistance between all police and law enforcement authorities, within the limits of laws existing in member countries and in the spirit of true Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
 Establish and develop all institutions likely to contribute effectively to the prevention and suppression of ordinary law crimes that have an international link.
 Liaison, in respect of international crime information, with Interpol member countries (including SARPCCO) and international law enforcement agencies, within the framework of international relations, between South Africa and such countries.
 Compilation, examination and dissemination of information concerning potential national and transnational threats, that may impact on the safety and security of South Africa and its inhabitants for operationalization or further analysis by Crime Intelligence.
 Coordination of all international crime and intelligence related enquiries emanating from Interpol member countries and foreign law enforcement agencies.
 Coordination of all international crime and intelligence related enquiries with regard to vehicles and related exhibits, emanating from Interpol member countries and foreign law enforcement agencies as well as the management of liaisons and repatriations in this regard.
 Render an operational crime desk (general crime, vehicle crime, organized crime, commercial & financial crime, intelligence and extraditions) service.
 Render a marketing and development service pertaining to Interpol and Interpol systems and databases.
 Render an operational technical support service (distribution of all new matters referred to Interpol and computer searches & updates on computer / mainframe systems).
 Render a SARPCCO / African Regional Office / Police Agencies in South Africa desk and liaison service.
 Render a crime related liaison service in foreign countries (International SAPS Liaison Officer and SAPS Seconders placed abroad).
