Additional requirements: • BA degree (4 years) in Social Work with 5 years' practical experience in forensic social work of which 3 years should be at supervisory level • MA (Forensic Practice) will serve as an added advantage • Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions • Must be a paid up registered Social Worker at SACSSP.
Core functions:• Ensure that the national standards for forensic social work in respect of legislation, policies, training, the rendering of service and evaluation are adhered to • Capacitate the Forensic Social Work Provincial Office • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service rendered by Social Workers conducting forensic social work in the province by means of inspections • Conduct special forensic social work-related investigations, if required by the Section Head: Forensic Social Work • Submit quarterly forensic social work returns, audits, annual reports, inspection reports and any information containing the successful investigation of child sexual abuse cases to the Provincial Head: Detective Service and Section Head: Forensic Social Work National level) • Ensure the monitoring of the effectiveness of the forensic investigations of child sexual abuse through the utilisation of systems/technology to assess the performance of Social Workers practising forensic social work • Manage training and development of Social Workers as well as the CPDs for forensic social work • Advise and guide Social Workers practising forensic social work with regard to all aspects of the work.

Core functions:• Implement the national standards for forensic social work in respect of legislation and policies • Conduct forensic social work assessments and other related investigations • Compile quarterly forensic social work returns, audits and any information containing the successful investigation of child sexual abuse cases • Maintain and develop professional level of expertise by accumulating 20 CPD points • Establish and maintain an office management system pertaining to forensic social work • Act as an expert witness in court • Compile forensic social work court reports • Network with other professionals and organisations to ensure a multidisciplinary service.
Language proficiency: Setswana, Xhosa and Sotho

The certification must not be older than 3 months • Qualifications and driver's licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks • Appointments will be made in terms of the SAPS Act, 1995 as applicable to the post environment • Applications must be mailed timeously.

• If a candidate is shortlisted, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview as well as a practical assessment • Reference checking will be conducted on all shortlisted applicants • Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in terms of the Criminal law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children's Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate, whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post • The Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013 requires that all new appointments in the South African Police Service as from 31st of January 2015 provide a buccal (inside cheek) sample in order to determine their forensic DNA profile, The forensic DNA profile derived from the sample will be loaded to the Elimination Index of the National Forensic DNA Database • All short-listed candidates will be subjected to fingerprint screening • Correspondence will be conducted with successful candidates only.
