The generic minimum requirements applicable to all posts:
- Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
- Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least NQF 4;

Additional Requirements
- Must have a four (4) year Degree: BSc/ B. Eng/ B-Tech (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 7 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent four (4) year qualification relevant to the core functions of the post.
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ relevant experience in the field of the post of which three (3) years should be at supervisory level or equivalent/ comparable level. • Compulsory registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Technologist (Mechanical) or higher and at least three (3) years’ post-registration experience in the built environment.
- Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, Able to prioritize own workload and work independently under pressure, Team player, Problem solving skills, Detail-oriented, Process driven project management.
- Competent in CAD ‘Revit’ and any other related software.
Core Functions
- Manage all Mechanical Engineering tasks as prescribed by Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Brief/liaise with consultants.
- Conduct Bid Evaluations as Mechanical Engineering expert.
- Compile specifications for mechanical engineering scope within SAPS.

CORE FUNCTIONS
- Provide Civil and/ or Structural Engineering service to SAPS regarding Building projects, maintenance projects and technical support under the supervision of a professional.
- Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction/ maintenance sites and facilities.
- Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/ Tender committee.
- Ensure the implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable energy sources and usage of new construction projects and existing facilities.
- Advise on and inspect Civil and Structural engineering work on-site.
- Provide advice and guidance to external consultants under the supervision of a professional.

Core Functions
- Supervise all Electrical Engineering tasks as prescribed by Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction/maintenance sites and facilities.
- Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/Tender sources and usage at new construction projects and existing facilities.
- Assist with evaluation of technical detail of bid documents and suitable tenderers.
- Give technical and expert inputs under the supervision of the Sub-Section Head.
- Assist in managing SAPS projects.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER TECHNICIAN (CAPTAIN)
LOCATION: Division: Supply Chain Management, Facility Management: Programme and Project Management, Head Office, Pretoria

The generic minimum requirements applicable to all posts:
- Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
- Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least NQF 4;
- Be (proficient) in at least two official languages, of which one must be English;
- Be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa of which documentary proof must be furnished;
- Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license;
- Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal / departmental or civil cases;
- Must not have any tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the Service;

Additional Requirements
- Must have a three (3) year National Diploma (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Compulsory Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate technician or higher and at least one (1) year relevant post-registration experience.
- Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, and project management.
- Competent in CAD ‘Revit’ and any other related software.
Core Functions
- Provide mechanical engineering service to SAPS regarding Building projects, maintenance projects and technical support under the supervision of a professional.
- Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction/ maintenance sites and facilities.
- Prepare and compile technical documentation and specifications for the Bid/Tender committee.
- Ensure the implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable energy sources and usage of new construction projects and existing facilities.
- Advise on and inspect mechanical engineering work on-site.
- Provide advice and guidance to external consultants.
- Undertaking all Mechanical Engineering tasks under supervision as prescribed by Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
GENERAL:
