INVESTIGATOR (WARRANT OFFICER) DPCI RE-APPOINTMENT
Remuneration Level: R295 905 per annum
LOCATION: Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Pretoria) 
REFERENCES: DPCI/HO/79/2020 (12 posts) 
 
 
Generic Requirements: 
 Have been appointed as a member of the South African Police Service in terms of the SAPS Act, 1995; (Act No.68 of 1995) 
 Have successfully completed basic police training and relevant functional police training courses, where applicable; 
 Have a good disciplinary and attendance record during their former employment in the South African Police Service; 
 Be in possession of at least a Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or higher qualification; 
 Have at least a valid light motor vehicle license (code B); 
 Be a South African citizen of which documentary proof must be furnished; 
 Be proficient in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English; 
 Submit himself or herself to a medical examination as determined by the National Head; 
 Undergo a psychological assessment as determined by the National Head and be found to comply with the profile of a police official; 
 Not have any tattoo marks of which will be visible when wearing a uniform and not be in conflict with the objectives of the Service; 
 Have no previous criminal convictions, and/or pending criminal, disciplinary cases and such person shall allow his or her fingerprints to be taken and allow background enquiries to be made; 
 Not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm; 
 Be prepared to be deployed based on the needs of the Directorate which may include having to relocate at one’s own expense and or to accept a post away from one’s current place of residence that could result in reasonable travelling; 
 Not be involved in any business or activity that will be in conflict of interest with the integrity of the Directorate; and 
 Be willing to undergo a refresher course or any other training as determined by the National Head. 
 
Applications of former members who have left the Service under any of the following circumstances will NOT be considered for re-enlistment: - 
 Members who have reached retirement age (early retirement or compulsory retirement age); 
 Members who have been dishonourably discharged or dismissed; 
 Members who have left the Service pending the completion of a disciplinary enquiry and/or criminal proceedings; and 
 Members who have left the Service due to severance package, ill health or retirement as a result of a medical boarding; 
 Members who left the Service more than ten years ago. 
 
Core Functions: 
 Conducting serious corruption investigations by utilising project driven or major case investigation methodologies. 
 Utilising a multi-disciplinary approach with regard to the field of responsibility.
 Developing an investigation plan for each investigation. 
 Preparing case dockets and enquiries for inspection in accordance with the prescripts. 
 Apprehending and processing of suspects. 
 Attending court proceedings



General:
 Location of ALL the posts: National Head Office: Pretoria

 Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form. 
 Certified copies of an applicant's ID document, motor vehicle driver's licence all educational qualifications obtained together with academic records thereof and service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, must also be submitted and attached to every application. 
 Applicants will be subjected to fingerprint screening. 
 Persons who exited from the South African Police Service for medical reasons, persons with previous convictions and those whom exited through dishonourable discharge are excluded. 
 Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act No. 68 of 1995. 
 Applications must be mailed timeously. Late applications will not be accepted or considered.

 The DPCI is under no obligation to fill a post after advertisement thereof. 
 Candidates short-listed for appointment to certain identified posts will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children's Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate, whose particulars appear in either the National Register of Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to the post.
