Generic Minimum Requirements:
 Applicant must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
 Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and an applicable three year Diploma / Degree registered on the National Learner Record Database on at least a NQF 6 level;
 Be proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English;
 Must be a South African citizen;
 Must have no previous criminal/ departmental convictions or criminal or
departmental cases pending;
 Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening;
 Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence;
 Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage;
 Must not have tattoos which will be visible when wearing summer uniform.


Additional Requirements:
 Applicants must have CompTIA A+, CompTIA N+ training, be able to take a computer apart and rebuild it, and have a certified training in the Digital Forensic software that is currently within the DFI (Encase, FTK, XWAYS, Cellebrite, MicroSystemation XRY, Exeba and Amphed5) and have two (2) years relevant experience in the field of the post of which one (1) year should be on supervisory level.
 
Core Functions:
 Ensure the effective management and coordination of inspections and evaluation of Digital Forensic Enquiries;
 Manage and coordinate digital crime investigations and operations;
 Ensure the effective gathering of comprehensive evidence at crime scenes;
 Ensure the effective acquisitioning / extraction of exhibits containing digital data;
 Ensure the effective analysis of all imaged / extracted data;
 Ensure the effective reporting and presenting of evidence in a court of law;
 Ensure the effective use of technology in the investigation of exhibits that contains digital data;
 Ensure proper management and utilisation of all resources allocated to the unit.


General:

 Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form.
 Certified copies of an applicant's ID document, motor vehicle driver's licence (where applicable), all educational qualifications obtained together with academic records thereof and service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, must also be submitted and attached to every application.
 Applicants will be subjected to fingerprint screening.
 Persons who retired from the Public Service by taking a severance package, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as persons with previous convictions, are excluded.
 Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995.
 Successful applicants to be appointed in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act no 68 of 1995) will have to undergo a medical examination and found to be medically fit. They will further have to comply with the prescripts on the SAPS Dress Order, whereby tattoos may not be visible when wearing uniform. Must be willing to undergo training as prescribed by the National Commissioner.
