SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE (SAPS)

2. The generic minimum requirements applicable to all the posts are as follows: • Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post • Be (proficient) in at least two official languages, of which one must be English • Must be a SA citizen • Be in possession of at least a valid light vehicle driver's license (General Worker are excluded) • Must have no previous convictions or cases pending • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification • Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage.
 
2.1. Post Title: Senior Psychologist/Counsellor (Warrant Officer) x 5 Posts
Level of remuneration: R 295 905 per annum

Additional Requirements: • Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) • Must be in possession of an Honours/Master's Degree in Psychology • Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Registered Counsellor/Psychometrist • Proof of valid registration with the HPCSA for 2017/2018 financial year • Relevant experience in the field of the post as a Registered Counsellor/Psychometrist • Experience with development of programmes and policies • Experience with Trauma and Suicide interventions • Experience with Psychometric Assessments.

Core functions: • Rendering of psychologically-related interventions: (e.g; Counselling, Psychotherapy, Trauma & Suicide) • Ensure the rendering of a professional, integrated service by Employee Health and Wellness to SAPS employees • Improve the mental well-being of members by providing psychological, emotional, and personal and work- interventions • Work in a multi-disciplinary Employee Health and Wellness Team • Assist in Psychometric testing • Assist in conducting Organizational Diagnosis and team building initiatives • Offer supervisory services to other psychology professionals • Management of projects and mental health related initiatives • Marketing of Psychological services • Assist with the facilitation of Assessment Centers • Management of human, physical and financial resources • Assist in the development of Organizational Norms, Standards and Procedures • Willingness to travel • Willingness to work long hours.



 

 
2.2. Post Title: Senior Chaplain (Warrant Officer: Band B1) x 1 Posts
Level of remuneration: R 295 905 per annum

Additional Requirements: • Applicants must at least have a three year theological qualification at a recognized institution, Recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least an NQF 6 or higher level • Proof of Academic Record of qualification/s from recognised institution (SAQA accredited - NQF level 6) • Proof of a valid Ordination certificate as preacher (i.e. minister of religion) recognised by the current ecclesiastical denomination concerned • Applicants must submit proof of a valid good standing certificate issued by the current ecclesiastical denomination concerned • Knowledge, skills and 3 years' extensive proven post-ordination experience as a minister of religion • Must be able to work in a diverse group, have good interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation, monitoring and evaluation, report writing, problem solving, conflict resolution and computer skills (Ms Word, Ms Power Point and Ms Office Outlook).
 
Core functions: • Administer the development and rendering of professional Spiritual Services to SAPS employees • Minister to SAPS employees through developing and rendering support (general and pastoral care) programmes, interventions and projects to address the spiritual needs of the SAPS employees • Address the spiritual needs of SAPS employees and their families through profession specific Pro- and Re- Active Spiritual Services ministry • Administer the development and implementation of the multi-disciplinary approach interventions within the Employee Health and Wellness environment • Administer the development and maintenance of the protocols and policies in terms of the set standards of the Section Spiritual Services and the Employee Health and Wellness policies • Administer human, physical and financial resources allocated to the specific area of responsibility.



GENERAL:

• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form.
• Certified copies of an applicant's ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of post and motor vehicle driver's license.
• The copies must be correctly certified on the copy itself, not at the back. The certification must not be older than three months.
• Qualifications and driver's licenses submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions.
The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks.
• Appointments will be made in terms of the SAPS Act, 1995 or Public Service Act, 1994 as applicable to the post environment.
• Applications must be mailed timeously. Late applications will not be accepted or considered.
 
The closing date for applications is 2020-07-13, time 16h00.
 
• If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a personal interview.
• Reference checking will be conducted on all short-listed applicants.
• Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children's Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post.
