SOUTH AFRICAN NURSING COUNCIL (SANC)
 
The South African Nursing Council (SANC) is the body entrusted to set and maintain standards of nursing education, training and practice in the Republic of South Africa. It is an autonomous, financially independent, statutory body, initially established by the Nursing Act, 1944 (Act No. 45 of 1944), and currently operating under the Nursing Act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005). The SANC currently has the following vacancy, and candidates that meet the requirements as provided are invited to apply. 
 
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY 
POSITION: SENIOR MANAGER: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY 
(REFERENCE NUMBER: SMICT/001/12/2019) 
REMUNERATION: NEGOTIABLE 
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: PERMANENT

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
 Grade 12 
 A degree qualification in Computer Science/Information Systems/Information Technology or equivalent technology related qualifications. 
 Registration with the relevant professional body 
 Valid Driver’s License 
 Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the ICT environment. 
 5 years’ experience at a management level in a corporate organisation, public sector or state owned entities/ organs of state. 
 A qualification in Business Management/Project Management/Management Development programme or any Business related qualification will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 A qualification/International Certification in the area of Information Security will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 Enterprise Architecture International Certification such as Togaf will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 ITIL (Foundations level as a minimum) will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 A qualification/International Certification in IT Governance, such as COBIT, CGEIT or equivalent. 
 Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE, MCITP or equivalent infrastructure/networking) International Certification will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 Leadership Management Programme will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 Working experience within a regulatory environment will be regarded as an added advantage. 
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 
 Travelling (limited) will be required.

 ICT Infrastructure (physical, virtual & cloud); 
 Project Management methodologies (i.e. Agile, PMBOK, Prince 2, etc.); 
 Application development; 
 Policy development; 
 ICT Governance; 
 Knowledge of other relevant ICT-related legislation and regulations; 
 Knowledge of Microsoft systems; 
 Knowledge of Microsoft licensing models; 
 Knowledge of Active Directory and TCP/IP; 
 IT Service Management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 
 Develop and drive ICT Strategy and implementation plan. 
 Exercise oversight of all ICT projects, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored and reported on. 
 Ensure effective management of ICT operations. 
 Oversee the development of policies, SOP’s, business processes and guidelines relevant to the ICT department to ensure efficiencies and address risks. 
 Manage risks for the areas of responsibility within the SANC. 
 Provide support, advice, reports to the Council and its committees. 
 Perform ad hoc tasks as delegated by the line manager/ supervisor 
 Manage of resources (Human, Financial, Physical and Information).

All applications must be accompanied by certified (not older than six months) copies of identity document and all relevant educational and professional qualifications as well as proof of professional registration, together with an up-to-date, detailed curriculum vitae (CV) including information on key performance areas and three contactable references, including the most recent employer. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation certificate. 
 
The SANC will conduct background checks (e.g. employment verification and reference checks as indicated on the CV, as well as in respect of criminal record, citizenship, financial records, qualifications, driver’s license and professional registration, if applicable). First preference will be given to South African citizens. 
The successful candidate will be appointed on a 12-month probation basis and will be permanently employed if all of the performance requirements are met during probation. Candidates may be subjected to practical tests and a competency-based assessment, determined by the SANC.
