POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Manager: IT Infrastructure, the incumbent  will be  responsible for providing maintenance and support of hardware and software in the organization, install, maintain network and server infrastructure and  provide level 2 support to IT technicians. As well as provide support to all IT disciplines within NTP.
 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 
 
Systems Administration
  • Install, configure, maintain and support network (WAN,LAN, switches, routers).
  • Install, configure, maintain and support server infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, maintain MS Exchange and Active directory.
  • Support and Maintain Firewall.
  • Monitor systems performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues on the network and server environments.
  • Ensure security and efficiency of IT infrastructure.
  • Ensure system availability meets SLA times.
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers as required.
  • Provide adhoc, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports (capacity, performance, uptime etc).
  • Support the senior IT Technician. 
  • Perform project tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide support for DR Testing.
  • Keep record of consumed licences and licence renewals.
 
 
Provide IT Support 
  • Provide second level and VIP support; 
  • Prioritise the nature of the problem and schedule corrective action;
  • Investigate the problem, identify and implement the solution as quickly as possible taking into consideration the  urgency of the problem;
  • Install new software systems; 
  • Provide infrastructure as necessary;
  • Provide support to team as required;
  • Keep updated with new technology developments and trends;
  • Update calls on service desk application to meet SLA times;
  • Escalate faults to next tier support;
  • Escalate calls to Service Delivery Manager for required assistance;
  • Audio/visual technical support;
  • Test patches and security updates;
  • Perform after hours standby support; and
  • Assist with system rollouts and user training.
 
Daily Checks
  • Complete daily checks on systems supported i.e. internet links etc; and
  • Resolve or escalate and Report on issues Resolve or escalate and report on issues.
 
IT Governance
  • Provide monthly reports in respect of 
  • Uptimes
  • Security breaches 
  • IT Helpdesk system reports in respect of requests completed,
  • Assist to maintain a register of software licenses and ensure compliance 
  • Adhere to policies and procedures i.e. change control management
  • Create and Maintain technical documents
  • Contributions to knowledge base
 
Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ)
  • Understand regulatory requirements at an operational level, and execute implementation within areas of responsibility
  • Meet NTP safety objectives

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Preferably a tertiary qualification. 
  • Microsoft Certifications, A+, N+, Server and Storage. 
  • Relevant Networking certifications. 
  • 5-7 years’ experience VMware, Networking including Vlans, Routing, Switching, DNS, DHCP. Microsoft operating systems, active directory and exchange.
