SENIOR TREASURY ACCOUNTANT

Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The incumbent will compile treasury reports and analysis of treasury information including monitoring cash-flow, creating financial reports, verifying treasury figures, and preparing financial forecasts, all while ensuring adequate financial control and compliance with relevant legislation and reporting standards.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting at an NQF level 8 or equivalent qualification.
  • At least five years’ experience in the following:
  • Financial instruments: Loans and investment reporting
  • Preparation of financial statements and financial reports in accordance with the International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Must be a Chartered Accountant.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS 7 and IFRS 9).
  • Knowledge of SAP is essential.

  • Experience in the banking / financial services sector.
 
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
A detailed technical knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the implications for SANRAL treasury reporting requirements.
Knowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and an understanding of the implications of treasury accounting within SANRAL.
In-depth knowledge of financial markets.




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Treasury Accounting and Reporting
  • Perform and review reconciliations of Trial Balance to treasury system subledger.
  • Perform, analyse and submit cash flow forecasts.
  • Perform, analyse and submit funding requirements.
  • Review and analyse notes to the financial statements relating to treasury.
 
Regulatory reporting
  • Analyse and review Assets and Liability Committee (ALCO) reporting Model.
  • Prepare, analyse and submit quarterly reports to Department of Transport.
  • Prepare, analyse and submit quarterly reports to Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • Prepare, analyse and submit quarterly reports to National Treasury.
  • Review, analyse and submit weekly borrowing reports to National Treasury.
 
Financial and Management Reporting
  • Prepare, analyse and submit treasury reports to executive management and the Board.
  • Prepare and submit IFRS-compliant annual financial statements, including notes, for financial instruments.
  • Develop treasury reports for roadshows.
  • Prepare financial inputs to management and financial accountants as and when required.
  • Prepare general statutory returns and reporting to regulatory authorities including monthly and quarterly reports to the Department of Transport and National Treasury. 
 
Compliance Management
  • Ensure accounting and reporting adherence to IFRS, GRAPS, PFMA, JSE-listing requirements and related regulations.
  • Ensure that reports are prepared accurately and timeously in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • File and safeguard reports as per requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audit queries when necessary.
  • Propose changes to policies and procedures relating to treasury accounting and reporting where necessary.
