OBJECTIVE
Provide a work-integrated platform for graduates to learn the service management function within an State Owned Entity environment. The opportunity will lend itself to developing knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change management.
 
EXPOSURE
Under the Supervision of the GM: Service Management, the Intern will be exposed to the following: 
  • Maintain and update the IT asset register for hardware and software.
  • Assist with asset tagging, audits, and reconciliation.
  • Support procurement processes by preparing asset lists and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with asset lifecycle policies and disposal procedures.
  • Log and categorise incoming IT support requests.
  • Provide first-line support for common technical issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to second-line support.
  • Maintain communication with users for timely resolution.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software.
  • Perform OS upgrades and patching.
  • Support peripheral devices and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Conduct routine workstation health checks.
  • Monitor network, applications and server performance using enterprise tools.

  • Respond to alerts and escalate incidents promptly.
  • Analyze trends and prepare system health reports.
  • Document monitoring procedures and update dashboards.
  • Log, track, and manage all change requests through the Change Management system.
  • Ensure all changes adhere to documented policies, including risk assessments, back-out plans, and testing protocols.
  • Prepare agendas, coordinate CAB/E-CAB meetings, and document decisions.
  • Notify stakeholders of change schedules, impacts, and outcomes via communication channels.
  • Maintain accurate change records and produce dashboards for management, including success/failure rates and trend analysis.
  • Conduct Post-Implementation Review (PIRs) for emergencies or failed changes and present findings at CAB meetings.

The opportunity will lend itself to developing knowledge and application of Strategy, Service, and Cost requirements.    Minimum Requirements NQF 6 in Logistics, Transport management, Operation Management, Business administration, Customer Relations/ SCM related qualification.   Exposure Under the guidance of the GM: ICT strategy and Innovation, the intern will gain exposure to various tasks and responsibilities:    Stock & Asset Support Assist with receiving, recording and issuing tag stock, equipment and consumables. Maintain accurate stock records and report shortages or discrepancies   Dispatch & Distribution Prepare parcels for dispatch to customer service centres, toll plazas, mobile operations vehicles and internal teams.  Track deliveries and confirm receipt with stakeholders    Inventory & Warehouse Support Conduct regular stock counts and update inventory registers. Ensure storage areas are organised and compliant with safety requirements.    Mobile Operations Support Assist with stock preparation for mobile operations vehicles. Support readiness activities and replenishment of operational supplies.    Documentation & Reporting Prepare delivery notes, stock transfer forms and dispatch registers.  Update systems and assist with weekly/monthly logistics reports.   Stakeholder Support Respond to stock or logistics queries from internal teams. Escalate any operational issues to the Logistics Supervisor.    Compliance & Safety Adhere to OHS guidelines and internal stock-handling procedures.
