NATIONAL SECURITY MANAGER
REPORTS TO: Business Operations Executive
GRADE: D

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The National Security Manager will ensure the effective implementation of risk administration and internal security strategies, policies and infrastructures to maximise organizational objectives and safeguard SANRAL employees, assets and information.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
FACILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• An NQF level 6 qualification in Security Risk Management or any other related
field.
• At least twelve years’ experience within the security environment, of which five years’ experience should have been at management level.
• A Security Grade A PSIRA certification.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of:
• Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• National Key Point Act.
• Control to Public Premises and Vehicle Act.
• Security Risk Management.
• Forensic Investigation.
• Labour Relations.
• Project Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide Strategy Input and Develop Operational Plans
- Contribute to the strategic planning process of SANRAL.
- Provide leadership on SANRAL security matters both strategic and operational level.
• Mitigate Security Risks
- Advise EXCO on significant security risk exposures for SANRAL.
- Establish and implement an approved security risk administration and internal control model and framework to maintain a sound security risk administration system.
- Monitor, assess and review the effectiveness of SANRAL’s security risk control systems.
• Security Management
- Manage SANRAL’s Security Policy implementation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Conduct security audits according to prescribed processes and in alignment to legislative guidelines.
- Identify all risks and threats to the security of the institution, as well as vulnerabilities in the institution’s capacity to counter these.
- Implement a security awareness program in SANRAL
• Manage Security Service Providers and Internal Security Staff
- Provide effective career management for SANRAL security employees.
- Ensure proper records management practices.
• Budget Management
- Compile annual security budgets catering for all security risks.
- Determine budget allocation to maintain existing and proposed systems.
• Other broad responsibilities
- Establish and implement an approved security risk administration and internal control model and framework to maintain a sound security risk administration system.
- Manage and review security service contracts regularly to ensure adherence to SLA’s.
- Liaise with law enforcement counterparts.
- Liaise regularly with relevant government departments and security bodies / specialists for advice, assistance and information regarding information security.
