SENIOR INVESTIGATOR: FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS
The Organisation requires the services of a Senior Investigator: Forensic Investigations in the Chief Operating Officer’s Division. This position will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a National Diploma in Forensic Investigation/Law/Forensic Auditing or equivalent qualification.
  • Must have 3-5 years of working experience in a Forensic Investigation environment.
  • A Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or a Forensic Practitioner (FP) would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of professional standards of the Associations of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and/or Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP).
  • An understanding of criminal law, criminal procedures, and law of evidence.
  • Knowledge of Prevention and Combating of the Corrupt Activities Act.
  • Knowledge of the Protected Disclosures Act.
  • Promotion of Access to Information Act.
  • An understanding of fraud risk management practices.
  • Understanding of SANParks policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the Forensic Investigation Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Implement the Whistleblowing Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Contribute to the review and development of applicable governance documents.
  • Assist with the coordination of and conducting fraud risk assessments.
  • Support the identification of fraud risk response strategies.
  • Support the monitoring of fraud risk response strategies.
  • Support the review of and updating the fraud risk profile.
  • Conduct forensic investigations within prescribed timeframes.
  • Assist with monitoring the implementation of recommendations resulting from investigations.
  • Support the panel of forensic service providers.
  • Support the maintenance of the fraud register.
  • Interview witnesses and implicated parties.
  • Obtain statements from witnesses and implicated parties.
  • Collection of information/evidence.
  • Draft investigation reports upon finalisation of investigations.
 
Salary R354,947.02 – R579,755.23

FINANCIAL CONTROL OFFICER

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a Degree in Financial Accounting.
  • Experience in preparing interim and Annual Financial Statement using Caseware

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing the AFS/IFS in accordance with GRAP- quarterly, interim, and annual.
  • Assist in performing special analysis of major issues as required and recommend solutions to complex business issues.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in coordinating annual training on GRAP compliance requirements.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to finance staff on new GRAP standards and treasury regulations.
  • Oversee the assessment of internal systems controls, identify gaps, and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of financial policies and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and deadlines.
  • Complete Accurate financial statements (general ledger, trial balance, journals, reconciliations including amongst others, balance sheet reconciliations, statement of financial position, and financial performance).
  • Manage and reconcile all general ledger accounts.
  • Review financial reports to ensure errors are prevented and/or detected for example misallocations, omissions, and the need for changes in operational processes.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of the audit evidence files.
  • Coordinate and submission of responses to auditors in a timely manner.
  • Address any other finance-related queries from any structures.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the business units and SMs to obtain information pertinent to reports prepared.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of asset management strategies and policies that ensure the effective use and maintenance of all sheets.
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of a comprehensive asset register, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal records.
  • Monitor the GL control account to ensure that acquired assets are accounted for.
  • Monitor the recording of donated assets.
  • Review the asset control account and prepare reports.
  • Daily /weekly clearing of the fixed asset clearing account.

FIELD ASSISTANT (BIODIVERSITY SOCIAL PROJECTS)
The above position is on a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2027, renewable on mutual agreement. The Salary is on a B4 salary band, R 11 823.25 Salary + R 2 426.12 housing allowance per month as the incumbent will be staying outside the Park. Own accommodation should be provided.

  • Code 08 driver’s license

  • 2 Years’ experience with contracting teams/management of personnel

  • At least 1 year experience in Fall Arrest/Rope Access work (IRATA/Tree felling/Wilderness Rope Access).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly Stock / Asset verification(s) of BSP WfW HAT equipment.

  • A fitness test will be part of the recruitment process and will require the applicant to undergo a PACK Fitness test (Arduous Level – 4.8km walk carrying 20kg backpack to be completed in 45 minutes).

MARINE FIELD RANGER

A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Field Ranger at Addo Elephant National Park (Marine Section). The successful incumbent will report to the Section Ranger.
Location ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK
 
Requirements
  • No Criminal record (Clearance must be submitted with the application), reference and background checks will also be done.
  • Minimum Grade 12 (Std 10) Certificate.
  • Must be a competent swimmer and comfortable working in an aquatic environment.
  • Valid code B driver’s license;
  • Skippers ticket for a Category B vessel with night rating and beach launching endorsement.
  • Skippers ticket for over 9m (will be an added advantage).
  • PRESEA training is a requirement. Please provide proof.
  • Must be physically fit and willing to undergo a fitness and swimming test before the interview;
  • Ability to conduct long and extended sea patrols under unfavourable conditions and to stay on Bird Island for extended periods of time;
  • Must be willing to undergo a medical test;
  • Must be willing to undergo integrity testing.
 
Responsibilities
  • Law enforcement that will include participating in regular patrols by foot, vehicle, and boat.
  • Duty on Bird Island for up to three weeks at a time periodically.
  • Anti-poaching operations which will require flexi-time, sleep-out, clandestine patrols, night shift duty and overtime.
  • Assistance with natural resources management.
  • Assist with the control of all contractors’ movement within the park.
  • Assist with maintenance and management of all assets including boats, trailers and vehicles.
