Requirements:
- A Master's of Science degree with a specific focus on water resources management, freshwater ecology or similar as a minimum, with a PhD being preferred
- Professional registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
- 4 to 6 years of experience in water resource management preferably in mid to senior management, with relevant project management experience
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation, public participation processes, water quality monitoring and basic knowledge of GIS
- Computer literacy and valid driver's license (Code 08)
- Risk management and problem-solving skills
- Strategic planning and stakeholder engagement experience
- Ability to work independently
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, interpersonal and analytical and technical report writing skills
Responsibilities:
- To maintain, update and implement catchment management plans, and strategies of the park through coordination with both upstream and downstream institutions.
- To influence and support decision-making regarding the management of freshwater resources within the KNP.
- Continue the implementation of environmental water requirements and resource quality objectives of rivers flowing through the KNP.
- To guide responsible resource use practices in the KNP (including both biotic and abiotic resources).
- Further develop the KNP's freshwater management and monitoring program at a transboundary scale in the interests of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation and transboundary water resources management objectives.
- Coordinate and represent SANParks at a national and regional level on sustainable water resources and ecosystem management, including that of Ramsar sites.
- To coordinate resourcing and funding of the KNP River management section to deliver on current and future operational needs.
- Coordinate and give inputs into EIAs and WUL applications.
- To maintain cooperative management of water resources, through stakeholder outreach and create awareness in catchment areas around the park to garner the support of the park's water management initiatives.
- To enable capacity transfer for freshwater ecosystem management in co-managed protected areas.
- Coordinate and where necessary solicit research projects that support the adaptive management of freshwater ecosystem objectives of the KNP Management plan, as well as the Parks' integrated water management needs.
- Coordinate the KNP Freshwater teams' efforts across various departments.
- Provide mentoring support to KNP interns within catchment management programmes.
- Integrate the above with internal processes such as water services and disaster management responses.

- Minimum three (3) years of driving experience in the Heavy Articulated Vehicle with a mounted crane.
- Code EC 1 license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

Responsibilities:
- Driving a Heavy Articulated vehicle with a total weight of <16000 Kg
- Knowledge of operating a truck-mounted crane.
- Transport Equipment, Goods and Passengers inside and or outside the park
- Collect carcasses from the bush and deliver them to Skukuza Abattoir within the regulated time.
- Take responsibility for goods from point of loading to point of delivery.
- Take responsibility for issued fuel card(s).
- Take responsible use, operation and care of the vehicle in possession at all times.
- Wash and dry the vehicle shortly after offloading carcasses. Sterilize the loader using approved chemicals.
- Daily inspection of the vehicle according to a prescribed inspection sheet.
- Daily completion of trip sheets
- Monthly completion of the vehicle log sheet
- Monthly completion of overtime sheet.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, discuss and assess options/models for land expansion through biodiversity Stewardship in communal and private land.
- Build on existing engagements that have been undertaken with landowners who have expressed an interest in having their land declared as part of the national park or supporting buffer protected areas.
- Facilitate the necessary legal and technical support for the signing of conservation agreements and/or the declaration.
- Design, implement and monitor land-use management plans.
- Interact with the landowners to assist with the extension of sound biodiversity-friendly management practices to ensure the conservation objectives are met on the ground.
- Explore biodiversity-compatible land use options (such as game-ranching, nature-based tourism, or sustainable offtake of wildlife and harvesting of medicinal plants) with landowners and communities for optimal, responsible utilization of their land.
- Provide commenting support on identified Environmental Impact Assessments in the buffer zone of the Addo Elephant National Park and engage relevant local and district municipalities on biodiversity and expansion matters in the Integrated Development Plan and Spatial Development Framework.
- Link communities to business development and capacity development support programmes of the project aimed at improving sustainable benefits from the protected area network.
- Assist in the development of strategic institutional arrangements and representative structures amongst landowners in the landscape.
- Establish and ensure the smooth operation of all the co-management and extension structures.

- Governance arrangements: inform and/or obtain expert support to guide beneficiation strategies and structures, land tenure and legal considerations, and facilitate engagement with DALRRD, COGTHA and Traditional authority structures in support of the project outcomes.
- Spatial planning and modelling: mainstream the Greater Kruger land use buffer and fine-scale conservation planning processes into a range of the Greater Kruger Strategic Development Programme strategic instruments, including ecosystem-based adaptation processes, OECMS, Bioregional plans, and site-specific land use plans. This includes providing support for site-specific plans for community-owned land to inform conservation and development land-use options on the piece of the land, after which more detailed feasibility studies and business plans can be conducted.
- Human capital management: oversee the GEF 7 staff, and provide the necessary support for Human Capital development, through the GEF 7, and associated partner programmes.
- Monitoring, evaluation, learning: maintain an effective monitoring, evaluation and learning system to ensure adequate knowledge transfer. To ensure cost-efficient, timely, and quality delivery of project activities and results, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and project reporting. This also includes sharing lessons learned from the three GEF 7 project nodes, at the national level, and internationally through the Global Wildlife Program - for replication and scale-up.
