GENERAL MANAGER: COMMUNICATIONS
The organisation requires the services of a General Manager: Communications: Kruger National Park and will be based at Kruger National Park. The above position will report directly to the Head of Communications and Spokesperson.

Requirements
- Be in possession of a qualification that is the equivalent of an Honours in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Stakeholder Engagement
- 8 years experience in corporate communications or public relations environment with 5 years in a senior management position.
- Must exhibit a demonstrable ability to translate strategy into action.
- Must exhibit a demonstrable ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.
- Legislative understanding (PFMA, NEMA, PAIA, POPI, etc.)
- In-depth comprehension of Public Relations, Media Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement Principles.
- Exposure to the communication environment in the public sector and/or state-owned entity will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of government protocols.
- Strategic planning, financial management skills, and interpersonal skills.
- People management, conflict management, and leadership skills.
- Project management skills, computer literacy, and networking skills.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to manage and operate in a matrix environment.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and implement strategic communication solutions.
- Provide strategic communication support and advise.
- Design and implement event management and stakeholder relations solutions.
- Design and implement digital media solutions.
- Design and implement media management solutions.
- Design and implement internal communications solutions.
- Draft and implement required crisis communication and issue management solutions.
- Identify and produce publications targeted at both internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce and publish content that enhances SANParks’ messaging and reputation.
- Design solutions that are responsive to communications (including stakeholder engagement) performance monitoring and assessment reports
- Oversee, direct, and capacitate the Kruger National Park Communications Unit
- Establish regular reporting and monitoring systems in regard to all areas of responsibility.
- Identify, conceptualise, and provide communication capacitation support and training for key, identified strategic managers.
- Build and maintain relations with stakeholders (internal and external)
- Implement sound Corporate Governance and financial management.
- Provide leadership, development, and management of Human Capital.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of functional policy.

SENIOR SECTION RANGER
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Senior Section Ranger at Addo Main Camp Section, Addo Elephant National Park.
Location Addo Elephant National Park
Requirements
- National Diploma in Nature Conservation or Degree in the Conservation sphere
- Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in the Conservation field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Section Ranger, or similar rank
- Valid Firearm competency and ability to use a wide range of firearms is essential.
- Code 08 Drivers license
- Must be able to fly in helicopters and small fix wing aircraft for several hours.
- A person with a high level of general fitness and mental alertness is required in this position.
- No criminal record – SAPS screening and Integrity Testing will be conducted prior to appointment.
- Good written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, project management and liaison skills
- Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office Package, Email, and Internet
Responsibilities
- Territorial integrity that includes law enforcement, collection, interpretation and evaluation of information on adjacent areas and communities.
- Implementation and administration of approved Conservation Policy according to agreed management and operational plans as well as stipulations of relevant legislation.
- Natural resources management that includes the implementation of invasive plant, alien animals, unnatural soil erosion management systems.
- Development of sound and mutually beneficial relationships with park users and other associated stakeholders, organizations and individuals.
- Management of the technical infrastructure in the section.
- Financial management that includes the preparation of budgets and daily financial administration of own section.
- Human Resources management and administration of own section.
- Participating in activities and providing inputs on environmental matters in the Control Area of the national park, including Environmental Impact Assessments and any other issues that might affect the park.
- To ensure adequate control of visitor activities, and safety and security

The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson D1 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
The candidate will be required to reside within the Park and official accommodation will be made available to the successful candidate.
THE APPOINTMENT WILL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH EE PLAN TARGETS.
