SENIOR SECTION RANGER
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Senior Section Ranger at Addo Main Camp Section, Addo Elephant National Park.
Location ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK
Requirements
- National Diploma in Nature Conservation or Degree in the Conservation sphere
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in the Conservation field
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Section Ranger, or similar rank, in a Big 5 reserve
- Valid Firearm competency and ability to use a wide range of firearms is essential.
- Code 08 Drivers license
- Must be able to fly in helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft for several hours.
- A person with a high level of general fitness and mental alertness is required in this position.
- No criminal record – SAPS screening and Integrity Testing will be conducted prior to the appointment.
- Good written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, project management and liaison skills
- Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office Package, Email, and Internet
- The ability to work under unfavourable and potentially hazardous conditions.
- Availability to work irregular hours (anti-poaching and other emergencies)
Responsibilities
- Territorial integrity that includes law enforcement, collection, interpretation and evaluation of information on adjacent areas and communities.
- Implementation and administration of approved Conservation Policy according to agreed management and operational plans as well as stipulations of relevant legislation.
- Natural resources management which includes the implementation of invasive plants, alien animals, and unnatural soil erosion management systems.
- Development of sound and mutually beneficial relationships with park users and other associated stakeholders, organizations and individuals.
- Management of the technical infrastructure in the section.
- Financial management that includes the preparation of budgets and daily financial administration of own section.
- Human Resources management and the administration of own section.
- Participating in activities and providing inputs on environmental matters in the Control Area of the national park, including Environmental Impact Assessments and any other issues that might affect the park.
- To ensure adequate control of visitor activities, and safety and security
Please Note
- The appointment will be in accordance with EE targets plan.
- The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson D1 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
- Candidate will be required to reside within the Park and official accommodation will be made available to the successful candidate.
Salary R523,828.22 – R810,213.57

MANAGING EXECUTIVE SUPPORT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Managing Executive Support in the Kruger National Park, reporting to the Managing Executive: Kruger National Park. The position will be based in Skukuza, Kruger National Park.
Purpose
To provide strategic support and coordination in the office of the Managing Executive and implementation of highly responsive, effective and professional operations.

Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (Masters Degree will be an advantage)
- National Diploma in Financial Accounting/Management
- 3-5 years experience in financial administration/accounting and business performance management.
- A proven track record of working in a Conservation and/or Tourism environment will be an advantage.
- Through knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks i.e. PFMA. Treasury regulations, SANParks policies and procedures.
- Annual and quarterly business performance reporting.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation and public participation processes.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s license (Code 08).
- Risk management and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic planning and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of administrative office procedures and systems.
- Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
- Contract Management and Project Management skills.
- Good communication skills – written & verbal, interpersonal and analytical and technical report writing skills.
Responsibilities
- To coordinate the compilation of, and effective and efficient implementation and monitoring of the Division’s quarterly and annual operational business plans.
- To coordinate KNP inputs into the Corporate Strategic Plan as well as the Annual Performance Plan.
- To establish and implement an effective administrative function and related programmes in the office of the Managing Executive.
- Coordinate the administrative operations and workflow, including composing a variety of reports, correspondence, presentations, guidelines, or related material.
- Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of divisional policies and procedures, which are informed by appropriate legal frameworks and comply with the organisation’s strategic business requirements.
- Monitor monthly divisional finances, ensuring cost control measures vis-à-vis variance reporting.
- To oversee the preparation and management of information flow, including proactive liaison with senior management in delivering this strategic support function.
- To oversee the coordination of logistics and schedules for various meetings, work sessions, briefings and other events and programmes for the Managing Executive office.
- To ensure adherence to administrative office procedures and administrative management systems.
- To provide strategic support in effective communication of, and information sharing on divisional-related matters.
- To oversee the coordination of the Performance Management for the division, and ensure adherence to timelines and timeous submissions.
