INTERPRETIVE OFFICER
A vacancy currently exists for an Interpretive Officer in the Socio-Economic Transformation Division of West Coast National Park. The successful candidate will be reporting to the SET Officer. The successful candidate will have to provide their own accommodation as there is no official accommodation in the park.

Requirements
  • Diploma in Nature Conservation, Social Science, Education or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in environmental interpretation and education
  • Knowledge of Cultural Heritage Resource Management and interpretation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Afrikaans is essential for effective communication in this role.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills
  • Valid code 10 driver’s licence is essential and PDP will be an added advantage
  • Experience in community development will serve as an added advantage
  • Availability to work flexible hours e.g. weekends, public holidays or as and when required

  • Promotions of the park’s image to the full range of parks users
  • Establish and maintain sound relations with surrounding communities
  • Compile stats and reports
  • Conduct exhibitions and outreach programs
  • Information dissemination to visitors and local communities
  • Assisting with general administration of programmes within the SET Department
  • Conducting guided activities in the park
  • Ensure maintenance of the Environmental Education Centre
  • Assist with heritage resource management in the park
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager

GENERAL MANAGER: MEDIA RELATIONS, EVENTS AND STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS
The Organisation requires the services of a General Manager for Media Relations, Events, and Stakeholder Relations in the Corporate Communications department. This position will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.
The successful incumbent will lead and manage the implementation of the communications strategy and execution of media relations and events for the organisation, enhancing brand visibility, stakeholder engagement, and public perception through integrated communication and event strategies that align with organisational objectives. Requirements
  • Be in a possession of a NQF Level 8 in Communications / Journalism / Public Relations/ Marketing or related field – NQF level 9 in the related field will be an added advantage

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Media Relations & Events team, setting objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a National Diploma in Accounting or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree will be an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development, consolidation, and coordination of annual budgets for the head office and all national parks.

  • Provide financial guidance to divisional/departmental managers on budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Conduct financial analysis to assess budget performance, identify trends, and highlight potential risks.
  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Generate financial insights to support decision-making and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee and track expenditure across all divisions, ensuring it aligns with the approved budget.
  • Identify areas of over-expenditure or under-utilisation and recommend corrective actions.

  • Valid First Aid Certificate, preferably Level 1 or Level 2
  • Valid DEAT Registration card (Site Guide: KNP & surrounding areas)

  • Valid Professional Driving Permit
  • SASSETA Unit Standards: 123519, 119651 & 117705 certification.

Responsibilities
  • To conduct basic and intermediate guided activities in the gate/camp
  • In the absence of the Snr. Field Guide will plan and organise camp/gate based guided activities for the smooth operations.
  • Conduct administration of the guiding activities at the camp.
  • Market guided activities with the intention to improve revenue at the camp/gate.
  • Present environmental interpretation to create awareness and a sustainable environmental culture.

A fixed term vacancy currently exists for a Sergeant Ranger in AENP – Zuurberg Section. The successful candidate will report to the Section Ranger.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Certificate (NQF level 6)/ National Diploma in Conservation or related fields
  • 2-5 years in field supervision of field rangers in a dangerous game area and previous practical experience in natural resource management

  • A firearm competency certificate

Requirements

  • Two (2) years’ operational experience in housekeeping or front office
  • Four (4) years’ experience in a supervisory or management position of a rest camp, 3 -star lodge or hotel operation.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision of day-to-day activities in various tourism outlets

  • To ensure that the vehicle under their control is managed according to policy, including log sheet and administration of this.
  • Be on-call outside normal working hours to take charge of any emerging crisis affecting visitors and staff.
  • Responsible for HR related matters including administration of attendance registers.
  • Compliance to all SANParks SCM financial SOP’s.
  • To act in the absence of a Hospitality Services Manager when delegated.
