Requirements:
- Be in possession of a National Diploma in Nature Conservation, Hons, Degree in Law, Hons Degree in Policing, B Degree in Law, National Higher in Diploma Law/Policing or equivalent.
- Should have 7 years of experience in firearm legislation and management.
- Knowledge of firearm legislation.
- Knowledge of Criminal Procedures Act.
- General firearm knowledge.
- Knowledge of firearm management (technical and administration)
- Project Management skills.
- Firearm handling skills.
- Data management skills.
- Communication skills.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Report writing skills.
- Firearm assessor skills
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that SANParks firearms are utilized according to the current Legislation.
- Develop SANParks Firearm Policy and Standard Operating Procedures, protocols, and control measures.
- Establish and maintain an official SANParks firearm register.
- Act as liaison between South African National Parks (SANParks) the Central Firearm Registrar (CFR), South African Police (SAPS) and other relevant institutions.
- Ensure that control systems are in place and compliance is adhered to at park level.
- Keep records related to firearm management.
- Support all designated officials responsible for firearms.
- Participate in all activities which involve the transportation of the official firearms and ammunition.
- Approve all procurement of and repairs to all SANParks firearms.
- Ensure that training in Firearm management takes place in the organisation

ASSISTANT CLUSTER MANAGER (BIODIVERSITY SOCIAL PROJECTS UNIT)
Park: Garden Route National Park
Description: The above position is a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2024 renewable on mutual agreement. This position is on a C5 Paterson Salary Band total remuneration package of R 24 834.45 as the incumbent will stay inside the park. The incumbent will also receive a Tool of Trade allowance of R4 313.97 (must be a suitable vehicle) pending approval as per SANParks Delegation Framework.
Requirements:
- National diploma in conservation or environmental management
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of project management experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in invasive alien plant clearing, specifically chainsaw operations is essential for this position.
- Formal qualification in SHEQ management and experience in health and safety management and compliance
- Track record of finance and supplier chain management (SCM) experience
- Computer literacy in MS office packages
- Code B driver's license
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the implementation of projects according to organisational standards
- Assist with strategic and operation planning of BSP project in Tsitsikamma
- Ensure project compliance linked to organisational and programme standards
- Conduct internal assessment and project reviews
- Managing human resources and logistics within the section
- Oversee the management of administrative and financial processes of the projects in the section
- Oversee the SHEQ compliance and reporting for the Cluster
- Compile monthly progress reports
- Communication and liaison with relevant stakeholders
