SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR
Park: Groenkloof (Head Office)
 
Description:
The Organisation requires the services of a Switchboard Operator in the Communications Department. This position will be based at the Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • 7 to 12 months of experience working in the switchboard/reception environment.
  • Customer service orientation
  • General Knowledge of the organisation
  • Office administration
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Computer Literacy with sound Knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Telephone etiquette
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that the telephone system is functional.
  • Attend to all incoming calls.
  • Administer the telephone system.
  • Bill private telephone usage.
  • Maintain and update telephone list.
  • Journalise telephone bills among Departments.
  • Coordinate the acquisitions and installations of telephones.
  • Coordinate a maintenance service for the telephone system.
  • Liaise with the external stakeholders i.e. Telkom, Post Office etc.

ADDO NP: FUSION CENTRE (CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR) X 4: [4 YEAR FIX-TERM CONTRACT]
Park: Addo Elephant National Park
 
Description:
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B3 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks. These vacant positions endorse Employee Equity in the work place
The successful candidate will be required to stay inside the park and there is available accommodation inside the park.
 
Requirements:
A challenging vacancy currently exists for four (4) Fusion Centre (Control Room Operator) Position at Addo Elephant National Park.
The key performance areas of the successful candidates would include the following:
  1. Monitor organisation security systems- including but not limited to the access control and CCTV systems
  2. Receive notifications of security incidents and issues from all organisation personnel
  3. Relay notifications of incidents, issues etc. to the appropriate leadership positions
  4. Interface with base building guards to coordinate incident responses
  5. Dispatch security officers to investigate alarms and respond to incidents, escalate as procedure states and to the best of own judgement
  6. Notify emergency services when external response is required; coordinate with security to ensure services have immediate access to the space
  7. Monitor the performance of security system elements and report deficiencies to Security Leader and organisation senior personnel
  8. Coordinate communication between relevant role-players and stakeholders
  9. Track the location and activities of all rangers/field staff assigned to their shift
  10. Applies the appropriate professionalism, maturity and tact to manage the incident
  11. Adheres to and always promotes organisational policies and procedures
  12. Communicates concerns, process improvement ideas or other opportunities for improvement to the team
  13. Law enforcement by assisting with the control of visitors as well as staff and the assimilation, interpretation, and dissemination of information.
  14. To maintain law, order and discipline to staff members, communities, and guests.
  15. To maintain a high standard of administration.
  16. Inspection and cleanliness of operations room building and equipment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • A grade 12 certificate/NQF level 4
  • 2 Years' experience as security/law enforcement official
  • 1 Year experience of working within a control room environment.
  • Psira grade B certificate or equivalent certificate in law enforcement i.e., ranger training,
  • Computer Literacy certificate. Advanced computer skills certificate will be an added advantage
  • Office Administrative and Record Keeping certificate and experience, will be an added advantage.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills
  • A healthy person with high-level mental alertness is required in this position.
  • The willingness to be based inside the park.
  • No criminal record

EXTERNAL VACANCY: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER GARDEN ROUTE REGION 
PATERSON GRADING: D3
Park: Garden Route National Park
 
Description:
A challenging vacancy exists for a Business Development Manager based in Knysna Regional Office, Garden Route National Park. The incumbent will report to the Regional General Manager with the responsibilities of developing and managing business and revenue generating opportunities for Garden Route National Park (Knysna; Wilderness and Tsitsikamma).
  • To develop and manage business development projects in the region.
  • To develop strategies to generate revenue from new tourism products.
  • To develop and drive interventions to enhance the performance of existing products.
  • To develop and evaluate business feasibility studies.
  • To implement and manage Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects and contracts.
  • To prepare supply chain documents for evaluation of bids for projects.
  • To ensure compliance with the requirements of Treasury Regulations 16 of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (PFMA).
  • To proactively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to optimize opportunities for project success.
 
Requirements:
  • BComm Business Degree or equivalent in Commerce/Finance/Tourism/Economics/Project Management.
  • Desirable post-graduate degree in MBA, MCom, Legal, Finance, or related.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years relevant work experience in Project Management or Financial Management, Tourism Management and/or Socio-economic development.
  • Must have excellent negotiation skills, Conflict management skills and Communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant and applicable legislations to business development.
  • Demonstrate computer training.
  • Drivers Licence.
  • No criminal record.

Description:
A challenging vacancy exists for a Regional Communications Manager based in Knysna Regional Office, Garden Route National Park. The incumbent will report to the Regional General Manager with primary responsibilities of planning and executing internal and external communications activities for the Garden Route National Park (Knysna; Wilderness and Tsitsikamma).
 
Key Performance Areas
  • To develop and implement a regional communications strategy in line with the corporate communications strategy.
  • To conduct media relations, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external media.
  • To establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Be very social media savvy and able to manage social media requirements for the region.
  • Advise Regional General Manager/Park Managers on key stakeholders issues.
  • Manage and execute visitor programs and external functions.
  • Identify, plan and coordinate events inside and outside parks.
  • Manage the Communications Department Budget.
  • React timely to media enquiries and other social media platforms.
  • Develop crisis management plan for the region in line with Corporate Crisis Communications Strategy.
  • Ensure that all published information conforms to corporate communications standards.
  • Manage the website and social media page for the region.
  • Partner in all Ad hoc Marketing initiatives.
  • Coordination of filming and event applications within the region.
 
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent Computer Skills.
  • Events Management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be available on weekends, public holidays and extended hours.
  • Be willing to travel extensively, must be able to work without supervision, with strong attention to detail.
  • Be eloquent and comfortable with conducting print, broadcast and TV interviews.
  • Ability to improve awareness and reputation of SANParks, Garden Route through social media and regional forums.
  • Be able to create, write, edit and publish content for Garden Route page.
 
Requirements:
  • B-Degree or equivalent in Journalism/Communication Science and Media Studies/Public Relations.
  • Minimum of three to five  (3 to 5) years in corporate communications coordinating media liaison, events management, web content, public relations and social media.
  • Some background in tourism and conservation practices.
  • Knowledge of the Public Access to Information Act (PAIA), Public Relations Code of Ethics and relevant industry related legislation.
  • Knowledge and Skills on Media Relations principles and practice.
  • Certificate on Web Management and Digital Marketing.
