HEAD GUIDE (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)
Currently a vacancy exists for a Head Guide position in Shingwedzi Rest Camp, in Kruger National Park reporting to the Park Activities Coordinator at Nxanatseni region.
 
Main Purpose of The Job
 In cooperation with respective Hospitality Service Standards, the management of logistics for guided activities and of guiding staff in each camp and related sites as well as the leading of advanced guided activities for excellent guest experiences.

Requirements
  • Grade 12.
  • Tertiary Qualification in aligned field (e.g Advance Certificate: Nature Conservation in Trans-frontier Conservation Management NQF level 6 or Natural Resource Management or Eco Tourism or equivalent, the National Diploma in Nature Conservation will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory function and as a lead rifle in a big five area.
  • THETA Nature Site Guide (Dangerous Game Area) TGD/NSGDGm/4/0037 NQF Level 4 certificate (must include View Potentially Dangerous Game Unit Standard).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate level 3.
  • Valid DoT Registration (Site Guide: KNP & surrounding areas).
  • Valid EC Driver License (Code 10).
  • Valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP).
  • SASSETA Unit Standards 123519, 119651 & 117705 Certification.
  • SAPS (South African Police Service) Firearm Competency certificate (or Proof of application as issued by the SAPS).
  • Basic Financial Understanding and Computer Literacy.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislations.
 
Responsibilities
  • To manage and organise camp based guided activities for the smooth running and administration of the entire camp.
  • To conduct basic and advanced guided activities including game drives & day walks.
  • To plan for camp guided activities and complete the necessary associated administration.
  • To market guided activities with the intention of improving the camps’ revenue and unit occupancy.
  • Present high quality environmental interpretation to create. environmental awareness and contribute to the building of a KNP constituency.
  • Lead and manage all guides within area of jurisdiction to ensure compliance with laws/regulations.

2X UNARMED ENVIRONMENTAL MONITOR
A vacancy currently exists for 2X Unarmed Environmental Monitors at Marakele National Park to be based at Thutong Environmental Learning Centre. The appointed Environmental Monitor will be paid a wage rate of R 208.00 per day as per Expanded Public Works Programme rates. Successful candidates will stay outside park. Only Local candidates will be considered (Thabazimbi).

Requirements
• Grade 12.
• Proficient in English, with the understanding that proficiency in another official language, e.g. Setswana, will be an added advantage.
• People orientated.
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in housekeeping, hostel or an education center.
• Basic knowledge of coordinating groups.
• Ability to work long and extended hours as well as over the weekend and public holidays.
• Be willing to work ad hoc duties.
 
Responsibilities
• General cleaning of the Thutong Environmental Learning Centre facilities, including kitchen, dining area, dormitories, assembly hall, passages, ablution facilities, as well as all open areas.
• Ensure that all pantry equipment’s are clean and organised at all times.
• Comply with health and safety requirements applicable to SANParks, including hygiene standards.
• Laundry duties.
• Inspecting and Reporting abnormalities to supervisor and technical services
• Assist with stock control of cleaning materials and other consumables.
• Assist with control of assets.
• Assist with coordinating departmental activities and projects in the park as and when required.
• Manage Customer expectations and Ensure Customer service at all times.

​OFFICER: HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

A vacancy currently exists for an Officer: Human Capital Management at Mountain Zebra National Park. The successful candidate will report to the Park Manager.
Location Mountain Zebra National Park
 
Requirements
• National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
• Degree qualification in HR or Social Science will be an added advantage.
• 4 years’ experience in a similar HCM role.
• 2 years in a clerical role.
• Valid Code B driver’s license.
• Strong computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
• Knowledge of HR legislation (BCEA, EE, LRA, Skills Development Act, etc).
• Experience with HR systems (e.g., SAGE 300).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle confidential matters.
 
Responsibilities
• Administer recruitment and selection processes, including drafting adverts, shortlisting, interview coordination, and onboarding.
• Ensure integrity of employee data on SAGE 300, People Management Module, ensure that information is captured correctly.
• Coordinate induction sessions and exit procedures (resignations, retirements, dismissals).
• Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual HCM reports.
• Consolidate information for performance management.
• Assist with investigations, compiling reports and coordinate payments of death claims.
• Assist with coordination and implementation of Employee Wellness interventions and administration thereof.
• Provide guidance on HCM policies, procedures, and labour relations.
• Support the implementation of the HCM strategy and operational plan.
• Represent HCM in disciplinary hearings.
• Assist with coordination, facilitation and implementation of Learning and Development initiatives.
• Establish and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure proper leave management.
• Assist with Injury on Duty (IOD) claims.
• Administration of Uniform requirements.
• Ensure compliance through periodic audits and accurate data management.

​BIODIVERSITY SOCIAL PROJECTS: ARMED ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORS X8

The above positions are fixed term contracts up to the end of March 2026, renewable by mutual agreement and further funding. Salary will be on a daily rate of R311.00
Location Marakele National Park
 
Requirements
• Grade 12.
• Diploma in nature Conservation or equivalent NQF levels will serve as an added advantage.
• No criminal record.
• Self-loading Firearm certificates with SAPS competency.
• Will be required to work weekends and public holidays.
• Physically fit and passionate about Nature conservation.
• Willingness to work irregular and long hours as and when required.
• Punctual and neat.
 
Responsibilities
• Environmental monitoring and information gathering for research purposes.
• Participate in law enforcement which include antipoaching patrols.
• Assist in predator fence maintenance.
• Participate in fire management, eradication of alien fauna and flora and land rehabilitation.
• Ensure safety of BSP teams and individuals from dangerous animals whilst working in the field.
• Assist with infrastructure maintenance in the section.
• Basic data capture and quality control.
• Asset and equipment management.
• Assisting Section ranger with all routine tasks.
