The above position is on a fixed-term contract position up to the end of March 2027 Renewable on mutual agreement. The Salary is on a B4 band, R11,823.25 salary + R 2,426.12 housing allowance per month as the incumbent will be staying outside the park (own accommodation to be provided).

Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Code 08 driver’s license
  • Computer Literacy in MS Office
  • 2 years of experience with contracting teams/management of personnel
  • Experience in health and safety management and compliance
  • Experience in soil/land rehabilitation techniques is essential for this position

TECHNICAL OFFICER
A vacancy currently exists for a Technical Officer at Mountain Zebra National Park. The successful candidate will report directly to the Park Manager and his/her responsibilities will be to manage the technical services and infrastructure maintenance of the park.

Requirements
  • A tertiary technical qualification – National Senior / National N Certificate or National N Diploma – N5/6 (NQF level 5) in the electrical / civils / mechanical fields and at least two years of practical experience in the field at supervisory levelFive years of practical experience
  • Proven project management skills/ qualification will serve as an added advantage;
  • National Trade Test Certificate
  •  2 years supervisory experience
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Office
  • Code EB driver’s licence
  • Occupational Health and Safety certificate
 
Responsibilities
  • To manage civil and building maintenance by agreed procedures on a 24-hour immediate response basis to ensure a favourable visitor and operational environment.
  • To execute and supervise trade related work such as repairs or maintenance to buildings structures, services, roads and equipment;
  • Experience of Bulk water reticulation systems, reservoirs, pumps and related control equipment, Sewer systems, septic tanks, soak aways pumps and related control equipment, Electrical installations and cable networks, repairs, storage and safety requirements;
  • To investigate and resolve problems that are of a technical nature;
  • To supervise and administer the Technical section;
  • To liaise with trade representatives/specialists;
  • To perform all administrative related tasks including budget control, ordering of materials/parts, stock control and monthly and quarterly variance reports on all technical related expenditure;
  • Provide technical support to all Park related projects in the absence of a project manager;
  • Work closely with contractors or projects managers when the need arise;
  • To ensure compliance to Occupational Health and Safety requirements and to execute tasks as per various OHS Section 16.2 appointments including reports on regular meetings and risk assessments to be OHS compliant;
  • To manage resources by monitoring machines, equipment, inventory and materials to ensure optimal functioning by submitting a yearly comprehensive plant and infrastructure servicing and replacement schedule;
  • To monitor and manage maintenance contractors, including quality control and to ensure compliance with SABS buildings regulations to increase life expectancy of structures;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours;
  • Proven project management skills needed.

MANAGER: PAYROLL
The Organisation requires the services of a Manager: Payroll in the Human Capital Management Department. This position will be based in Groenkloof National Park.

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a relevant HR/ Finance or Payroll system Degree.
  • Have at least 4 – 6 years’ experience in payroll management of which at least 3 years to be at the managerial level in a company of more than 2000 employees.
  • Vast experience with Sage 300 People System and additional systems – SAP, Oracle etc
  • Knowledge in maintaining payroll processes, and data entry management reporting.
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience in payroll calculations and processing.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Knowledge of South African legislation relating to payroll.

Payroll Management:
  • Oversee all payroll activities, including the month-end process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure payroll procedures are fully defined, meet best practices, and that the department adheres to these practices.
  • Facilitate the generation of continual improvement processes and quality standards within the Payroll Department.
  • Ensure costs are allocated correctly to each cost centre on the payroll system.
  • Load payments onto the banking system and manage the first release.
  • Facilitate payroll audits, ensuring the efficient provision of information to auditors.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports as requested by management.
  • Provide management with key statistics, trends, and recommendations.
  • Prepare bonuses and increase schedules.
  • Advise on any anomalies.
  • Compile documents for presentation for EXCO.

  • Imports Kms claim/ S&T debtors) and corrections from Great Plains.
  • Correction of errors on the General ledger on cost codes, etc.
  • Prepare dummy payslips for employee offers when required.
  • Creation of ACB file for payment and/or stop employee record on ACB file on request.
  • Advance/rejection payments signoff for payment in Finance.
  • Assist with input when salaries were stopped on ACB, or money received back to do correct reversal transaction on the system
  • Assist with STATS SA reports.
  • Closing payrolls during variance periods and doing rollovers every month.
Business Processes:
  • Update and maintain relevant payroll policies and procedures.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place to manage risks.
  • Support the business by providing accurate salary information during wage negotiations.
Employee Benefits
  • Administer all company benefit plans.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to Retirement Funds and Medical Aid and reconcile statements.
Reports:
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports as requested by management.
  • Provide management with key statistics, trends, and recommendations.
  • Prepare bonuses and increase schedules.
  • Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, disability, and non-taxable wages.
  • Prepare annual leave reports and manage annual leave appropriately.
  • Research and analyse discrepancies and process appropriate corrections.
Statutory Compliance:
  • Meet statutory deadlines and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements to prevent legal losses.
  • Submit pension returns, PAYE, SDL, and UIF returns correctly and on time.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns for Workman’s Compensation.
  • Provide tax-efficient remuneration structures per SARS regulations.
  • Advise on salary or tax-related benefits.
  • Monthly EMP201 and Bi-annual submission to SARS.
  • ITA88 employee SARS penalties – Requesting it from SARS and processing it in the system for deduction.
  • Tax Directive application from SARS and processing on the system.
  • IRP5 run and submission to SARS – error correction on system/queries from Employees on tax returns / IRP5.
