REGIONAL GENERAL MANAGER: GARDEN ROUTE
 
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a dynamic, team-oriented and highly motivated Regional General Manager for the Garden Route National Park (GRNP). The successful candidate will be closely involved with the implementation and maintenance of sound administration and corporate governance systems, policies, and procedures within the different operational units of the Garden Route National Park (GRNP) The position will be based in Knysna at Thiessen Islands.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation/Tourism Management, Business management or any other relevant qualification coupled with 7 to 10 years of experience in senior management
  • Any postgraduate degree in a related discipline or Master/ MBA will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Sound knowledge of statutory requirements for governing National Parks incl. NEM: PAA, ICMA, PFMA, NVFFA, NFA, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory governing National Parks incl. NEMA: PAA, MPA, PFMA, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, project management, conflict resolution and community liaison skills
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours as well as extensive travelling.
  • Sound organisational, administrative and negotiation skills.
  • A valid driver’s license
 
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the Human Resource functions and Financial Management systems for the Garden Route National Park.
  • To manage, monitor and report on the GRNP Management Plan and Business Plan.
  • To provide effective strategic management and leadership for the region.
  • To ensure implementation and contribution to the Parks Division Annual Operational Plan.
  • To ensure effective planning and management of tourism operations and tourism business ventures for the GRNP region.
  • To ensure effective conservation management for the region.
  • To ensure effective constituency building with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders for the region.
  • To implement sound governance and ensure legal compliance and solicit legal support for the region.
  • To lead, develop and manage the Human Capital of the region.
  • To ensure the effective implementation of stakeholder management in the Garden Route Region

  • The remuneration package includes an all-inclusive cost to company salary, based on the scale of a position with a Paterson EL job grade, allowances, and benefits as specified in the HR tariff document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.

MANAGER: EXECUTIVE SUPPORT (5 POSITIONS)
 
The Organisation requires the services of five (5) Managers: Executive Support in the following divisions and departments: Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Tourism and Marketing, and Communications. These positions will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.

Requirements
  • Be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma which covers the fields of business administration and/or, financial management (A Master’s Degree will be an advantage).
  • Have 5 years of experience in business performance management.
  • A proven track record of working in a conservation and/or Tourism environment will be an advantage.
  • Have 3-5 years of experience in budget management and budget reporting
  • Have knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • An understanding of regulatory frameworks i.e. PFMA. Treasury regulations, SANParks policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Financial Management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of administrative office procedures and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient implementation and monitoring of the division’s quarterly and annual operational business plans.
  • Establish and implement an effective administrative function and related programmes in the office of the Managing Executive.
  • Coordinate the administrative operations and workflow, including composing a variety of reports, correspondence, presentations, guidelines, or related material.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of divisional policies and procedures, which are informed by appropriate legal frameworks and comply with the organisation’s strategic business requirements.
  • Coordinate annual budgetary and monitor monthly divisional finances, ensuring cost control measures vis-à-vis variance reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of information flow, including proactive liaison with senior management in delivering this strategic support function.
  • Oversee the coordination of logistics and schedules for various meetings, work sessions, briefings, and other events and programmes for the Managing Executive office.
  • Ensure adherence to administrative office procedures and administrative management systems.
  • Provide strategic support in effective communication of and information sharing on divisional-related matters.
  • Oversee coordination of the performance management for the division, and ensure adherence to timelines and timeous submissions.
  • Coordinate divisional planning and reporting ensuring compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
