ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER (2 POSITIONS)
Park: Garden Route National Park
 
Description:
The Positions are on a fixed-term contract up to 31 March 2024. Remuneration on C2 Paterson salary scale, Farleigh East on R 20 174.24, staying outside the Park and Tsitsikamma Bloukrans R 14 916.64, staying inside the Park.
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in managing the Farleigh East and Tsitsikamma Bloukrans Working For Water Projects respectively, in the Wilderness and Tsitsikamma sections of the Garden Route National Park.
 
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Nature Conservation/Forestry or Environmental Management
  • A minimum of one year of Project Management experience
  • 1 Year of experience in invasive alien plant clearing is essential for this position
  • Computer literacy in MS office packages
  • Code B driver's license
  • Experience in invasive alien plant clearing is essential
  • Experience in health and safety management and compliance
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with strategic and operational planning of the project
  • Coordination and mentoring of EPWP contractors
  • Ensure the management of quality, production and monitoring of task-based operations linked to the project
  • Ensure compliance to program standards/norms and Health and Safety requirements
  • Assist with the financial management of the project
  • Ensure database information for the project is maintained and updated
  • Assist with administrative management
  • Asset, stock and stores management
  • Assist and coordinate training and social interventions
  • Assist with mapping and data recording for the project linked to activities
  • Report on project progress

ADMINISTRATOR AND DATA CAPTURER

Description:
EPWP Daily Wage Employment Contract (10 months): NDT Infrastructure Maintenance Programme.
Remuneration: Daly Wage rate of R 314.61 per day (Excl. UIF & WCA).
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • 1 Year experience in data capturing and administration.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required, be able to work under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Computer literate and working experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • To have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Receive and check documentation for correctness and completeness before capturing data.
  • Capture EPWP participant and time sheet information on database.
  • Refer and resolve problems with information and documents with project managers & administrators
  • Record keeping of relevant project documentation (IDs, work contracts, attendance registers).
  • Prepare monthly EPWP registers & documentation for submission to funders.
  • Reconciliation of contract and training documentation.
  • Assist with finance & quote pack document capturing as and when it is required.
  • Responsible for uploading documents received from projects onto project portal.
  • Provide information for project audits.
  • Assist with general office and project administration.

BIOTECHNICIAN
Park: Golden Gate Highlands National Park
 
Description:
A fixed-term vacancy from 1 April to 31 December 2022 (9-month contract), exists under JRS Biodiversity Foundation Grant for a highly competent Bio-Technician in Scientific Services to be based in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.
Paterson Grading: C4
 
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with the Paterson C4 job grade, and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks. This incumbent will report to the Regional Ecologist, Arid & Central Research Unit.
 
Requirements:
  • MSc degree in Conservation, remote sensing knowledge will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant experience in biodiversity research plus a good working knowledge of field-monitoring methods and a range of biodiversity identification and evaluation skills is essential
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience at networking with people and managing according to a budget and within specified timeframes.
  • An understanding of research and management objectives and conservation practices and principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is a prerequisite.
  • Ability to travel extensively within and where required between parks, and occasionally also work over weekends.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of geographical information systems (GIS) will be an advantage.
 
Responsibilities:
This post is expected to facilitate and conduct various biodiversity research and monitoring programs in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park (GGHNP).
The candidate will be based in the GGHNP area (outside the park) and report to the Regional Ecologist in the Kimberley office, whilst also reporting activities to the Conservation Manager in GGHNP.
 
He/She will further be required to capture, store and summarise data from monitoring programs according to protocols. The incumbent is expected to provide a support, facilitation and coordination function for fieldwork to visiting researchers. In addition, he/she will ensure effective asset management and inventorisation and assume responsibility for maintaining equipment, provide effective and efficient research administrative support and interdepartmental liaison functions where required; participate and provide the scientific inputs to awareness and outreach programmes, and represent Scientific Services at selected fora.

Requirements:
  • Be in possession of B.Com degree/B-Tech in Logistics/Warehouse/Purchasing or Supply Chain Management or Equivalent Qualification.
  • Should have 4 - 6 years of Procurement and Logistics management experience in the Public Sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an integrated logistics strategy.
  • Design and develop standard operating methods to manage logistics operations efficiently including warehouse and inventory management
  • Monitor the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and warehousing of goods.
  • Manage travel and Accommodation services.
  • Oversee the provision of Corporate Uniform.
  • Coordinate logistics activities related to procurement, funding and end-users.
  • Develop and execute logistics support policy, processes and methodologies to the general benefit of all end users.
