Labour Relations Practitioner
Park: Kruger National Park
 
Description:
A position exists for a Labour Relations Practitioner in the Human Capital Management Department within Kruger National Park (KNP), reporting to the Labour Relations Manager: KNP.
Paterson: C-Upper (C4)
 
Purpose of the Job
To defend cases at the CCMA, facilitate the resolution of disputes between employees and supervisors, co-ordinate grievances and disciplinary investigations, render an advisory service, conduct training on labour relations issues in order to contribute to a sound labour relations climate in the KNP.
 
 
Requirements:
  • National Diploma in Labour Relations or Human Resources
  • Degree in Human Resources or Advance Diploma in Labour Relations will be an added advantage
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience
  • Mediation and facilitation skills
  • Sound knowledge of all labour legislation, policies, regulations, processes and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Presentation and analytical skills
  • Computer skills; including excel spreadsheet, word processing programs and email at a highly proficient level
  • Organising resources to meet agreed on objectives
  • Effective written and communication skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Experience in initiating and/or chairing a disciplinary hearing
  • Demonstrate track record at the CCMA (Con, Med & Arb) and provide at least copies of six (6) CCMA arbitration Awards
  • Valid Driver's Licence
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • To attend, represent and successfully defend SANParks cases at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA)
  • Research case law or outcomes of previous internal cases and advise on labour and employment relations matters.
  • To assist to create a climate of trust, co-operation, stability in order to stimulate a harmonious and productive working environment which contributes to a respected reputation.
  • To ensure capacity building and compliance to relevant labour legislation and codes of good practice (conduct joint training interventions on rights and responsibilities of employees, policies and procedures, the role of shop stewards; between line management, employees and shop stewards).
  • Train managers or supervisors on topics related to labour relations, such as working conditions and collective agreements.
  • Facilitate information sessions to collect issues raised by employees and present proposals to line management.
  • Investigate and evaluate union complaints or arguments to determine viability.
  • Advice line management on matters related to the administration of contracts, employee discipline, grievance procedures and adherence to applicable legislation.
  • To track and co-ordinate the details of grievance, disciplinary hearings and CCMA cases so that they are conducted and concluded within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Assess risks associated with grievances and disciplinary actions and propose remedial action to line management
  • Conduct regular meetings with shop stewards, line management and union officials and or other interested parties to discuss labour relations matters, such as operational requirements and dispute resolution.
  • Mediate discussions between line management and shop stewards in order to reconcile differences.
  • Monitor SANParks and employees adherence to collective agreements.
  • To monitor and accurately administer union membership in accordance with organisational rights agreements.
  • Develop methods to monitor employee satisfaction with policies or working conditions, including grievance procedures and complaints.
  • Conducting compliant audits.
 


Salary: R 292 042 - R 477 009
