HELICOPTER PILOT
Park: Kruger National Park
 
Description:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the above position. Reporting to the Chief Pilot; Air Services and based in Skukuza, the position will perform the duties and responsibilities of Commercial Helicopter Pilot.
NB. The position will be filled in line with the Employment Equity Targets for KNP.
 
 
Requirements:
  • Candidates must be in possession of a minimum of a valid South African Civil Aviation Authority Aviation (SACAA) Helicopter Commercial License (HCPL).
  • Candidates must hold a valid Sling rating issued by the SACAA.
  • Candidates must hold a valid night rating issued by the SACAA.
  • Minimum total flight hours (Rotorwing) - 3,000.
  • Minimum total flight hours (Turbine  Rotorwing) - 1,000.
  • AS350/H125 rating (minimum hours on type - 100).
  • Valid Game/Cull Rating.
  • Minimum 250 hrs game capture experience.
  • Valid Dangerous Goods course certificate.
  • Valid Crew Resource Management course certificate.
  • Valid SACAA Class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate.
  • Valid code 08 South African driver's license.
  • The candidate must be able to comply with SANParks aviation insurance requirements as a named pilot.
  • Computer literacy proficiency essential (Microsoft Office).
  • Candidates will be subjected to a full background, qualifications & criminal records check and will also be required to undergo integrity (deception) testing process.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Valid and current IF (instrument flight rating).
  • NVG (night vision goggle) endorsement and experience.
  • Proven Sling/Longline/Bambi bucket experience.
  • 500+ hours game capture experience.
  • SAPS, HEMS, Anti-Poaching, SAAF, Law Enforcement experience.
  • Multi-Crew experience.
  • Firearm competency certificate (business purposes - Handgun and Carbine).
  • Quality assurance, Safety officers course certificates
 
Responsibilities:
  • Safe, efficient aerial operations within the South African National Parks' areas of operation.
  • Aircraft care and management as Pilot in Command to comply with the Manufacturer, Civil Aviation and Company procedures, regulations and protocols.
  • Anti-Poaching support and reaction missions.
  • Game capture, culling and veterinary support missions.
  • Census and survey missions.
  • General logistical support missions.
  • Sling / external cargo missions.
  • Humanitarian aid, disaster relief missions.
  • Night NVG operations.
  • VIP flights and general charter.

Salary: R 583 446
