Description:
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a dynamic, team-oriented and highly motivated General Manager: Frontier Region. The successful candidate will be closely involved with the implementation and maintenance of sound administration and corporate governance systems, policies and procedures within the different operational units of the Frontier Region. The position will be based in Port Elizabeth.
 
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Patterson E-lower band job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation/Tourism Management, or any other relevant qualification coupled with five years related management experience.
  • 7 to 10 years experience in senior management.
  • Any postgraduate degree in related discipline or MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation and conservation management.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory governing National Parks incl. NEMA: PAA, MPA, PFMA, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, project management, conflict resolution and community liaison skills.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours as well as extensive travelling.
  • Sound organisational, administrative and negotiation skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.



Responsibilities:
  • To coordinate and manage the Human Resource and Financial Management functions for the Frontier Region, which includes four national parks
  • To manage, monitor and report on the Frontier Regionals divisional Scorecard and Business Plan.
  • To provide effective strategic management and leadership for the region.
  • To ensure the implementation and monitoring of the regional business plan.
  • To ensure effective planning and management of Tourism operations for the region.
  • To ensure effective conservation management for the region.
  • To ensure effective constituency building with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders for the region.
  • To implement sound governance and financial management for the region.
  • To lead, develop and manage the Human Capital of the region.
