SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a creative, self-disciplined and self-motivated individual to produce professional layout of research and science-based books and publications and the production and layout of creative and professional computer generated graphics for use in publications, exhibitions, events, marketing material, etc., utilising devoted PC software (ADOBE Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw), and PC based hardware – all generated to the client’s satisfaction, within set timeframes and on budget.
This position requires a degree in Graphic Design or equivalent qualification at NQF 7. A postgraduate qualification in Graphic Design or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 4 years of work experience in the relevant field.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: project management knowledge and skills; ability to work as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision; in depth knowledge of the printing process and requirements, as well as repro experience; ability to do self-training in new design software; in depth knowledge of image editing techniques; basic knowledge of copyright restrictions; knowledge of design trends, software developments and photography; be quick at putting content together and reading; detail consciousness; be disciplined; takes initiative; be collaborative; be able to meet deadlines; be able to multitask; be adaptable; be passionate about Biodiversity; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written); must have report writing skills; people management skills; excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools. The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.

ESTATE MANAGER

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to effectively manage the estate, facility and support service functions of the garden like the buildings, workshop, machinery and fleet management.
This position requires an advanced diploma or degree in Nature Conservation or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate degree or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 4 years of work experience in Conservation and Estate Management environment.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: extensive experience and exposure to nature based tourism; good corporate governance and management skills; urban conservation; wildland fires; in-depth understanding of national and global biodiversity conservation; knowledge about legislation pertaining to biodiversity conservation; knowledge on the management of organisational finance; project management knowledge and skills; EMI designation; knowledge of human resources, procurement and financial management policies and a valid drivers licence with one year’s driving experience.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Manage the estate and biodiversity management;
- Ensure effective facility maintenance;
- Ensure the production of compost and mulch ;
- Drive human management services; and
- Support safety and risk management services.

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER: TENDER MANAGEMENT

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to oversee the supply chain management process as it relates to tenders and ensure that the correct procedures are followed for tender processes.
This position requires a national diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 6 with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field or a degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 7 with 2 years of work experience in the relevant field. Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification with NQF 8 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: extensive experience in procurement systems would be an advantage; Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB); extensive knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures, processes, practices, systems, and frameworks related to supply chain management is essential; in-depth knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Generally Recognised Accounting Practice is essential; advanced planning, organizing, and problem solving skills; excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; report writing skills, people management skills, excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous. The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
