RISK SPECIALIST (FIVE YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
SALARY: COMPETITIVE AND MARKET RELATED PACKAGE
The South African National Accreditation Systems (SANAS), based in Pretoria, is listed as a Schedule 3A Public Entity according to the National Public Entities Classification. SANAS is mandated to be the Sole Provider of National Accreditation Services, whereby it formally recognises the technical competency of calibration and conformity assessment service providers that offer testing, inspection verification and calibration services as well as inspection against OECD GLP Principles in both the public and private domains.
 
SANAS seeks to employ an experienced Risk Specialist with strong managerial, strategic and operational skills on a fixed term contract for a period of five (5) years. The candidate will be responsible for the establishment of a new risk management division.  They will further be responsible for managing the strategic and operational risks to ensure an effective and proficient well-governed and compliant organisation. Focusing on enterprise-wide risk management programmes, the Risk Specialist will be tasked with the overall efficiency of the ERM function. This is inclusive of the embedding of risk management practices and fostering a risk aware culture within the institution.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Strategic Management -Development, formulation and co-ordination of the Risk Management Strategy, implementation plan and risk management policy.
  • Governance, compliance and policy processes -Comply with all legislative requirements including Accreditation Act, PFMA and Treasury Regulations and Assess, evaluate and promote compliance to SANAS policies and procedures.
  • Risk Management.
  • Risk Assessment and Monitoring.
  • Audit Management.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Risk and Ethics Awareness -primary champion of risk and ethics management at strategic and operational level.
 
COMPULSORY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum qualification of B Degree in Commerce (Business/Accounting/Finance/Auditing/Risk Management). NQF 7.
  • Minimum of 3 years risk management experience as a Risk Manager. 
  • Working Knowledge of the Public Sector Risk Management Framework.
  • MBA, CIA or CA (SA) will be an added advantage.
 
COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Extensive experience and Understanding of the Risk Management principles, practices and guidelines, internal control systems and ability to monitor risk management activities / programmes and implementation thereof. 
  • Experience in strategic and business planning and experience in tools and techniques for the evaluation, presentation, facilitation and maintenance of strategic and operational risks workshops and ability to run and chair meetings.
  • Experience in the rollout of a risk management methodology.
  • In-depth experience and understanding of corporate governance.
  • Good written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation..
  • Working with people and coping with pressure.
  • Assertive, persuading and Deciding and initiating action.
  • Achieving goals and objectives and deadline driven.
  • Adapting and responding to change.
