JOB PURPOSE
To plan, manage, support and promote strategic research and innovation programmes aimed to support maritime sector development.
 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
 
Plan, manage, conduct, support and promote strategic industry application research and innovation programmes.      
Plan, manage, support and promote the undertaking of strategic research and innovation programmes within the maritime sector.
Manage the implementation of technology and innovation studies to promote research as a significant contributor to the development of the maritime industry
Lead and contribute in the planning and carrying out of research projects.
Conduct continual scanning of the maritime environment and provide reports for consideration by Line Management.
Internal Business Processes  
Prudently manage resources (e.g. finance, data etc.) allocated for purposes of research projects.
Develop and manage performance compliance requirements (e.g. annual business plan, regular reports and ad-hoc requests).
 
 
Stakeholder engagement and Collaboration
Participate in research collaboration programmes on bilateral and multi-disciplinary partnerships with industry, academia and other relevant institutions impacting the Maritime Industry/Sector.
Interact with and build relationships and joint initiatives with leading research institutes and other key players locally and abroad.
Engage and promote internal stakeholder relations.
In collaboration with   industry partners, identify, assess   and    implement   new business innovative maritime opportunities that work towards promoting maritime research.
 
Project and Programme Management        
Design and implement programmes and projects
Evaluate and review programmes and projects and take pro-active remedial action to achieve quality output.
Manage data in line with ethical and information protection guidelines.
 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
Qualifications
Relevant Bachelors qualification or equivalent qualification.
A postgraduate qualification in Maritime studies is an advantage 
 
Knowledge & Experience
7 years' relevant working experience
Experience in a Maritime environment will be an added advantage
Experience in conducting research
Experience in collaborating and engaging with strategic stakeholders
Knowledge of conducting maritime research
Knowledge  and understanding of statistical research method.
