The position reports to the Senior Manager: Finance Operations.
 
HEAD OFFICE: FINANCE
                                                                                                           
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for accurate reporting and governance over the financial performance of the whole organization for accounting purposes.
 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Financial reporting
  • Preparation of financial statements, ensuring accurate consolidation of monthly, quarterly and annual results within specified deadlines.
  • Ensure validity, completeness, accuracy of payroll processes and accounting
  • Managing financial month end close calendar
  • Submit monthly performance reports in line with set timelines
  • Preparation of half and year end reporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with PFMA
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Maintain records of internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures
  • Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles internally in line with policies and externally with regards to Financial reporting standards

 
Strategy and risk management 
  • Implement strategic finance and risk management agendas
  • Review current policies and procedures against best practices and propose improvements to management for approval and implementation
  • Implement changes as per the approvals to SAMSA policy and financial reporting and operations procedures
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to finance policies, procedures and systems
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • National Diploma in Financial Accounting OR Equivalent
  • Accounting accreditation OR equivalent
 
Knowledge and Experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in Financial Accounting
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Strong knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National Treasury Regulations, the Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP)
