The South African Library for the Blind is a Schedule 3A Public Entity, an agency of the National Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, and is governed by the provisions of the South African Library for the Blind Act, 91 of 1998.
Located in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in the Eastern Cape, the South African Library for the Blind (SALB) provides a national library and information service to blind and print-disabled readers in South Africa. It is a national institution with an international reputation.
SALB invites applications from suitably qualified South African citizens for the undermentioned contract position to commence on 1 NOVEMBER or earlier.
SENIOR LIBRARY PROJECT COORDINATOR
3 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT
POST OVERVIEW:
The Snr Project & Minilibraries Coordinator position is responsible to coordinate all the Provincial Mini-Library Projects to ensure that all Objectives and timelines are adhered to as agreed in the various Memoranda of Understanding. The position enables the library to liaise with all the Provincial Coordinators and other relevant stakeholders in a coordinated manner to ensure that all projects progress as planned. In addition to the above the position also provides the opportunity to manage the depot mini-libraries and to monitor their activities to ensure sustainable service delivery and good recordkeeping. The position also allows to promote the work of the Library in general through planned Outreach Activities in collaboration with other Outreach Librarians.
The successful incumbent will report to the SALB Senior Conditional Grant Manager and work in close collaboration with the Provincial Mini-Library.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent qualification with minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in a client-focused library service environment or library project management.
• Project Management qualification/certificate will be an added advantage.
• Solid knowledge and experience of National, Provincial, and Local Government functions and operations.
• Good understanding of applicable governance legislation, including the PFMA, MFMA,
and the South African Library for the Blind (SALB) Act.
Duties include inter alia to project manage all Provincial Mini-library projects based on signed Service Level Agreements with respective Provincial Authorities and other relevant policies and guidelines, manage the depot mini-libraries, expand the SALB service through active outreach, general professional and administrative support functions, and Library resources distribution to Mini libraries.

• Confident, creative, self-motivated and analytical to initiate new initiatives or to solve challenges where applicable.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and with various stakeholders to achieve set objectives within time limits.
• Good social networking skills based on strong managerial and leadership capabilities
• The successful incumbent must have an unendorsed driver’s license valid for at least 2 years and must be willing to travel frequently.
All-inclusive Remuneration Package: R618 937,68 CTC Per Annum
