Role Mandate
The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective, secure, and reliable operation of the organisation’s ICT environment through the delivery of consistent, high-quality ICT services aligned to business needs. The role is accountable for ICT operations, service management, and operational security, while leading operational projects and managing service performance in line with ITIL / ITSM principles. The role supports infrastructure and systems availability, business continuity, enables service improvement, and provides operational assurance to the CIO and executive management. The Manager: ICT Operations role operates in a complex ICT environment & requires a balance between operational stability, service improvement, and responsiveness to business needs.
 
Key Accountabilities
ICT Service Operations & Availability
• Monitor and manage service performance against agreed service levels
• Manage operational relationships with ICT service providers, drive corrective actions and service improvements
• Ensure effective troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution of operational issues
• Management of all company cell phone contracts and two-way communication licenses
• Recommendations for the improvement or development of system processes & policies

• Ensure operational security controls are implemented and monitored
• Manage ICT operational risks in collaboration with infrastructure and security teams, including the identification, remediation & tracking of vulnerabilities
• Management of logical & physical access rights for employees & contractors across systems, network infrastructure, and facilities
• Contribute to business continuity & disaster recovery readiness

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF 7) in Information Systems / Management / Technology
• Certification in Call Centre Support will be an added advantage
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation will be an added advantage
• 3 – 5 years User Support, ICT Systems, Technical ICT Support Systems of which 3 years in Management role
• Proven experience managing ICT teams

Role Mandate
The Manager: Applications is responsible for the end-to-end management, stability, optimisation, and strategic alignment of the organisation’s business application landscape. The role ensures that applications effectively support business processes, deliver value, remain secure & compliant, and are supported through appropriate vendor partnerships. It requires strong hands-on capability in application reporting, data interrogation, and automation to ensure accurate, timely information and reduced dependency on vendors, in a complex application environment. The Manager: Applications acts as the key interface between business stakeholders, ICT operations & application vendors to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose application services.
 
Key Accountabilities
Application Portfolio & Business Requirements Management
• Effective translation of business needs into functional specifications
• Ensure alignment of application portfolio to the ICT strategy, ICT Roadmap and conformance with ISO 2700, COBIT & ITIL principles
• Improved stakeholder satisfaction with application functionality and usability

Application Delivery, Integration & Data Support

Application Testing, Support & Service Continuity
• Own & assure end-to-end application testing (environments, standards, UAT, and quality outcomes) across all ICT changes
• Drive continuous improvement of the applications support and testing operating model, including transitioning support into ICT
• Plan for and manage business application enhancements (minor work that are related to work-around for faults, modifications to configuration, data manipulation or small customisations), ensuring that all requests for change are prioritised and delivered to agreed targets
• Manage the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of applications and related databases

Supplier / Vendor Management
• Undertake analysis and research into suppliers, products and external services and make recommendation to the CIO
• Ensure specifications for RFQs, tenders are developed and procure suppliers in line with the Company’ s Supply Chain Management processes
• Negotiate supplier SLA’s, conduct regular vendor/supplier performance reviews and issue resolution

Financial & Risk Management
• Prepare operational budget (in line with ICT Strategy & Roadmap) for the ICT Applications department for recommendation and approval; Approve expenditure in line with Delegation of Authority
• Manage expenditure and report on variances monthly and implement mitigating actions for over-expenditure
• Contribute to the development of strategic and operational risk register of ICT; Implement mitigation action to manage risks
• Provide inputs to the development of the Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Continuity Plan

Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology / Information Science / Computer Science (NQF 7)
• Business Systems Knowledge
• Certification or formal training in data analysis, business intelligence, or reporting tools (e.g. SQL, Power BI, SAP/JDE/Sage reporting, or equivalent)
• Certification in Project Management will be an added advantage
• Relevant ICT or application management certifications (e.g. ITIL, TOGAF, ERP certifications) will be an added advantage
• ITIL qualification will be an added advantage
• ERP or enterprise application certification with a strong reporting and data component will be an added advantage
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years’  experience in business applications with at least three years in a management role
• Sound working knowledge and experience managing enterprise applications (e.g. ERP, business systems, integrations) through the full SDLC
• Proven experience working in complex, integrated application environments where accurate reporting is critical
• Demonstrated experience in application-level reporting, data interrogation, and analysis (e.g. SQL queries, ERP reporting tools, BI tools) to support operations & management decision-making

Role Mandate
The Enterprise Technology and Security Manager provides strategic leadership for the organisation’s technology direction, ensuring that ICT infrastructure, digital services, and technology governance effectively enable business objectives. With a strong focus on enterprise-wide security, this role is accountable for shaping and executing the enterprise technology strategy, embedding digital solutions into all operations, managing technology and cybersecurity risks, and ensuring the resilience, performance, and optimisation of all core ICT environments.
The incumbent also guides the organisation’s adoption of emerging technologies, ensuring they are integrated responsibly, securely, and in ways that enhance operational capability and long-term value. Through proactive planning, strong oversight, and continuous improvement, this role ensures a stable, scalable, and trusted technology foundation for the enterprise.
 
Key Accountabilities
Infrastructure & Technology Operations
• Provide strategic direction for the technology and security unit which includes enterprise architecture, networks, data centre and security competencies
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise ICT infrastructure (networks, servers, data centres, endpoints, and cloud environments)
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of all ICT systems and services
• Lead the operational support of enterprise platforms, including incident, change, and problem management
• Manage technology & security budgets, lifecycle planning, and technology roadmaps
• Drive standardisation, automation, and optimisation across ICT operations
• Implement, maintain and improve communication systems, including electronic communication systems
• Conduct testing and analysis of all components of network and server infrastructure including the execution of the Disaster Recovery plan
• Stay abreast of new technological developments and assess these technologies in terms of the potential effect they could have on the productivity and efficiency of business currently and in future
• Create a strategy for establishing a secure and well managed enterprise environment in Azure, enabling Azure to become a critical part of the company’s network. Use Azure services to meet resiliency requirements
• Provide in-house training as and when required.
• Interface with business unit managers to define infrastructure support initiatives & solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness
• Assist in the development of long-term strategic plans for the development of ICT requirements within business to ensure the infrastructure development is aligned to the strategy
Information & Cybersecurity
• Lead and coordinate cloud infrastructure projects from a technology architecture perspective, ensuring that infrastructure development activities are consistent with accepted best practices
• Plan, develop and lead the life cycle maintenance and replacement / upgrades of ICT Infrastructure at end of life
• Perform regular risk assessments, security audits, and control reviews to mitigate cyber risks. Ensure the monitoring, management and mitigation of infrastructure related risks
• Maintain the ICT risk register to ensure that risks are regularly reviewed, identified, assessed, reported and mitigated in line with recommended best practices
• Develop the architecture blueprint for the business, aligned with the ICT strategy
• Develop, implement, and monitor enterprise-wide information security strategies, policies, and standards
• Lead threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and cybersecurity awareness initiatives
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practices (e.g., POPIA, ISO 27001, NIST)
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Manage and build relationships with current and new infrastructure equipment and service providers according to business procurement policies
• Provide expert advice to the CIO and executive team on technology risks, investments, and security trends
• Collaborate with Application, Operations, and Digital teams to ensure secure, integrated technology delivery
• Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical infrastructure and services
• Contribute to ICT governance structures and reporting, including risk registers, audits, and board committees
• Monitor, maintain and improve an enterprise class ICT Infrastructure system based on the Microsoft platform and other industry leading systems over a large geographical area
People & Vendor Management
• Lead and mentor technical staff and contractors, building internal capability in infrastructure and cybersecurity
• Manage third-party service providers, technology partners, and outsourced contracts based on Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
• Foster a culture of accountability, resilience, and proactive security awareness within SAFCOL
• Build, lead, and govern the team by recruiting talent, maintaining a succession plan, regularly reviewing and updating role profiles to ensure clarity of accountability, and initiating and supporting disciplinary processes when required, including evidence collection
 
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF 7) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Relevant professional industry certifications in infrastructure, security, or architecture
• Advanced professional certifications aligned to the role’s expanded strategic, security, and risk mandate, such as CRISC, CISM, CISSP, Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, Google
Cloud) - Preferred
• Platform based requirements: at least two (2) Certifications from below
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) – preferred
  • MCSA: Windows Server 2008 certification Minimum – preferred

• Experience in technology strategy development, enterprise architecture, or technology governance

​NETWORK & SECURITY ENGINEER

Role Mandate
The Network and Security Engineer is responsible for the stability, performance, and resilience of the organisation’s network and infrastructure environment. The role focuses on designing, maintaining, and optimising enterprise networks while embedding security controls to protect systems and data. The incumbent responds to network incidents and security events, resolves complex faults, and delivers reliable, cost-effective connectivity that underpins business operations.
 
Key Accountabilities
Governance & Compliance
• Implement the infrastructure strategy, policies, procedures and best practices for managing the ICT infrastructure including networks, access rights, servers and communication systems
• Conduct testing and analysis of all components of network and server infrastructure including the execution of the Disaster Recovery plan
• Implementation of recommendations of internal and external auditors
• Support the development of long-term ICT strategies aligned to business needs
Relationship Building & Project Delivery
• Work with ICT teams, internal and external suppliers/clients to resolve highly technical or contentious issues and conflicts to ensure projects and work packages are within budget and delivered timeously.
• Install, support and manage the ICT infrastructure environment which includes WANs, servers and desktops/laptops, data centre, database administration, security and LAN operations.
• Implement, maintain and improve communication systems, including electronic communication systems.
• Ensure all changes affecting the ICT Infrastructure take place in a controlled and auditable manner.
• Manage the life cycle maintenance and replacement of ICT Infrastructure at end of life. Work with line manager to plan and implement upgrades needed to maintain service levels.
• Managing the operational implementation of network hardware & systems management software for Cisco and Sophos systems
• Manage implementation projects upgrades and roll outs of network equipment and systems
• Assist with technical documentation and reports related to the post including but not limited to design, development and implementation of systems
• Ensure the monitoring, management and mitigation of infrastructure related risks
• Manage users on network, making sure they can access work-related applications

Operational Delivery

  • Monitor and control operations in alignment with Ecotourism BOP standards. 
  • Motivate, guide, and support team members to achieve production and performance targets. 
  • Implement corrective or disciplinary measures where performance deviations occur. 
  • Complete the Production Control Sheet (PCS), timesheets, and all required administrative documentation accurately and timeously. 
  • Ensure efficient and responsible use of tools, equipment, fuel, and other operational resources. 
  • Verify that vehicle logbooks are accurately completed and submitted monthly. 
  • Retain and reconcile fuel slips for accountability and record-keeping. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with employees, visitors, hikers, and contractors. 
  • Ensure huts are opened prior to use and securely locked when not in use or when hikers are not present. 
  • Enforce adherence to all SHEQ regulations and procedures. 
  • Conduct monthly job observations and complete corresponding checklists. 
  • Perform daily risk assessments and lead toolbox talks before work commences. 
  • Ensure all team members are equipped with and correctly utilise the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 
 
Minimum Requirements 
  • Grade 12 
  • Code EB or higher driver's license with PDP 
  • Supervisor certificate 
  • National Diploma in Ecotourism Management will be an added advantage 
  • Previous experience in supervisory role will be added advantage 
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience within an Ecotourism environment
