Role Mandate
To provide administrative support to Demand section within SCM by ensuring that there is proper record keeping of Supplier information, maintenance of the Company’s Supplier Database.
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Perform any filling of documents and document management within the Demand Management section
  • Take minutes at BSC and ensure minutes are circulated and signed
  • Compile briefing session presentations, take minutes at briefing sessions & ensure minutes are circulated and signed
  • Send out meeting invites to BSC members and end-users
  • Perform ad-hoc administrative duties within Demand Management
  • Retrieve Supplier B-BBEE data/certificates from SAFCOL’s Group supplier database & JDE and filling of B-BBEE certificates
  • Request outstanding Vendor information (B-BBEE) when compiling the B-BBEE spent report
  • Verify Supplier information prior to capturing and on-boarding of new Vendor information
  • Provide Supplier database maintenance e.g. banking details, vendor information
  • Provide data required for the Preferential Procurement spent reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Compile the B-BBEE spent report on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Request Payment report from finance on monthly basis or as and when required
  • Generate Procurement reports on JDE
  • Reconcile Payment report and JDE Procurement report in order to determine accurate payments on a monthly basis
  • Obtain Vendor’s B-BBEE information on JDE and ensure the accuracy of Vendor’s information
  • Liaise with relevant departments to get information on broader SCM
  • Ensure that feedback from engagements is filtered back into the unit
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent (NQF 4) qualification
  • Qualification in Demand Management, Logistics and SCM or related qualification (NQF 5) - will be an added advantage
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in Supply Chain / Procurement
  • Knowledge of JDE or ERP system - will be an added advantage
  • Valid Driver’s License - will be an added advantage

FORESTER: HARVESTING

Role Mandate
To plan and control all plantation harvesting, thinning and clear-fell activities.  
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Monitor transport of timber collection and delivery
  • Ensure Operating Harvesting Plan (OHP) is available for each harvesting compartment
  • Submit OHP for approval to Plantation Manager before commencing operations
  • Monitor production and log progress reports on a daily basis
  • Ensure internal audit requirements relating to harvesting are met
  • Check planning section enumeration of harvesting compartments before commencing
  • Complete all volume reconciliations per compartment and send to planning department
  • Check log quality audits on daily basis and report completed work on PSM
  • Complete management checklists for each operation on weekly basis
  • Ensure Supervisor(s) completes Best Operating Practices (BOP’s) quality checklist on daily basis
  • Ensure planned job observations are correctly completed
  • Ensure toolbox talks are held regularly and monitor compliance of forestry best practices
  • Conduct post harvesting audit with Plantation Manager
  • Follow up on all customer complaints
  • Control contractor daily operations on:
  • Production and quality of work
  • Compliance on Safety, Health and Environment standards
  • Legal and company policies
  • Mark trees for thinning and ensure alignment of thinning regime
  • Ensure thinning control is completed before commencing thinning
  • Conduct weekly checklist and post-harvest audit on completion and report volume variances to the Plantation Manager and Planning Manager
  • Control plantation road team’s operations, monitor and ensure road register is up to date
  • Perform road condition assessment as part of post-harvest assessment
  • Monitor maintenance schedule to ensure service is performed on time and ensure vehicle checklists are completed on daily basis
  • Complete checklist for all operations and conduct in-field quality checks as per BOP’s
  • Ensure safety of all work aspects as per set safety standards
  • Organise and finalise professional services for servicing of SHE equipment
  • Organise safety meetings with safety representatives and management
  • Complete and control all safety registers and follow up on actions to be conducted
  • Report all incidents on DMS (Data Management System) and control environmental aspects in field as per EMS
  • Establish training needs for subordinates
  • Perform staff utilisation planning, manage staff performance, productivity and provide staff coaching
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Forestry (NQF level 6)
  • B-Tech/ Bsc. Degree in Forestry (NQF Level 7) will be added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience as a Field Forester or similar level
  • Previous experience in harvesting operations will be added advantage
  • Valid driver’s license
