SOUTH AFRICAN FORESTRY COMPANY (SAFCOL) - CHAINSAW OPERATOR X 3

 
Role Mandate 
To operate a chainsaw in clearfell, thinning or silviculture operations and ensure the log quality complies with the required log specification standard. 
 
Key Accountabilities 
 Safely operate a chainsaw to fell, de-branch and cross-cut trees as per Best Operating Procedure (BOP)  De-branch trees infield and cross-cut tree length at the merchandising area (roadside or landing)  Open block roads, firebreaks and preparation of firewood  Ensure log meet company specification  Conduct daily preventative chainsaw maintenance and service  Ensure set targets by Supervisor/Forester are achieved as per BOP  Complete chainsaw checklist regularly  Report fault immediately to Supervisor/Forester  Perform adhoc duties as and when and required 
 
Minimum Requirements 
 Grade 7  Chainsaw Operator Certificate  Basic safety, Environmental Awareness, Fire Suppression will be advantageous  2 years’ experience as a Chainsaw Operator
