Status: Permanent
Location: Bergvliet, Tweefontein, Ngome, Belfast, Berlin, Woodbush, Wilgeboom and Entabeni
Grade: B2
Reporting line: Forester: Harvesting
Role Mandate
To operate a chainsaw in clearfell, thinning or silviculture operations and ensure the log quality complies with the required log specification standard.
Key Accountabilities
Safely operate a chainsaw to fell, de-branch and cross-cut trees as per Best Operating Procedure (BOP)
De-branch trees infield and cross-cut tree length at the merchandising area (roadside or landing)
Open blocked roads, firebreaks and preparation of firewood
Conduct daily preventative chainsaw maintenance and service
Ensure set targets by Supervisor/Forester are achieved as per BOP
Complete chainsaw checklist regularly
Report fault immediately to Supervisor/Forester
Perform adhoc duties as and when required
Minimum Requirements
Grade 7
Chainsaw Operator Certificate
Basic safety, Environmental Awareness, Fire Suppression will be advantageous
2 years’ experience as a Chainsaw Operator
