Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide a value adding Laboratory Systems accreditation service to clients through individual contribution and the leadership of others, which meet the requirements of the SABS process.
 
Functional Management
  • Analyse, evaluate, develop, and implement new control systems that optimize operations or utilize new technologies for internal auditing.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling and conducting of internal audits in line with client and SABS requirements and allocate roles and responsibilities as required.
  • Prepare for internal audits according to stipulated requirements.
  • Lead and participate in pre-audit meetings and complete audit preparations.
  • Maintain internal control systems by updating internal audit programs and questionnaires as relevant to the scope of the audit.
  • Conduct witnessing of Test Officers & Technical Signatories to evaluate the effectiveness of the Laboratory Services process.​
  • Conduct vertical assessments during the investigation of complaints and disputes where required
  • Conduct assessments on sub-contracted laboratories, or clients’ testing facilities and recommend suitability for use by SABS to LSD management
  • Accurately record, review, and interpret data to determine the quality of information.
  • Write and submit comprehensive audit reports to clients based on the scope of work required.
  • Implement and analyze the root cause analysis process for nonconformities raised during assessments and internal audits.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of audit and inspection findings to relevant stakeholders.
 
Risk and Compliance Management
  • Verify clearance certification of IRQ’s submitted to Accreditation through the IRQ system within set
  • Provide guidance to assessors during external assessments (SANAS/IECEE/DOL).
  • Review documents and ensure alignment to best practice when submitting on the document control
  • Analyse certification related complaints and non-conformances and provide advocacy to line management on trends.
  • Conduct training on accreditation requirements as required.
  • Keep abreast of national and international accreditation requirements and changes and best practice certification standards in order to provide advice to line management
  • Ensure the mitigation of Accreditation’s risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and implementing of sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks.
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and ensure that appropriate operational controls are implemented to address new requirements.
  • Support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit requirements.
  • Support the maintenance and enforcement of related Service Level Agreements to minimise business risk and ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.
 
Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation’s reputation.
  • Represent and participate in the organisation’s committees and tasks teams when required.
  • Convene, chair and attend meetings and present findings and business cases to relevant stakeholders when required.
  • Provide technical support on projects when required.
  • Actively participate and attend relevant conferences and workshops related to Laboratory Services activities to keep abreast of new technology and developments
  • Effectively management customer complaint through timeous resolution and/or escalation as required.
  • Analyze queries and develop mechanisms to proactively resolve common issues and share lessons
  • Ensure the documentation of all stakeholder engagements to ensure continuity for future
  • Participate and attend relevant body’s technical meetings and forums and recommend changes within relevant internal SABS forums.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • National Diploma / B Degree in a relevant scientific/ Natural sciences or engineering field
  • 5 years relevant work experience
  • Relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • SABS Relevant Laboratory Systems
  • Risk Management practices and principles
  • ISO auditing processes and protocols
  • Exposure to management systems within a laboratory environment is essential
  • Management of Laboratory Services activities is preferred
  • Auditing of laboratory management systems is preferred
  • ISO 17025, 17043 and Assessor training would be an advantage
  • Computer Literacy
